This took place back in March. Ya, its a little late to report but better late then never.
I was in the market to buy my first car. I was looking around at several dealerships, when I heard an ad on the television promoting HUGE Fleet sale, that hads all Colbolts and Aveo under $10,000, going on at Bill Heard.
I go down to the dealership to take a look at the inventory. The sale had just started the day before so I figured that there would be an excellent selection because all chevy fleet vehicles in the city were suppose to be at this lot.
Well as I got out of my vehicle and walked up to the main office, not a single salesperson, and there where several just standing around that glanced at me, had asked if I needed help or anything. I wasnt approached until I opend the door. I told the sales person about the ad I saw on the tv and he just looked am me like I was crazy and had no clue what I was talking about.
While I sat down the salesperson went and talked to the advertisment manager. He came out ask and asked me where I had heard the ad and looked at me like I was making up the ad. At this point I was getting a little irritated because no one knew what ads they were running! The sales person starts asking me these questions on a questionare, while the advertising manager called corportate to find out about the sale.
The manager comes back and says that they are running the sale and that they have a COUPLE, not hundreds like the ad had said but a couple. I asked if I could take a look at them before I made any decision. Instead of taking me to the cars though, they started immediaetly asking me about how I was going to pay for the vehicle.
As I was only 18, almost 19 at the time, I didnt have any credit and I told them that. They insisted on knowing if I had a Co-signer I could ask to come down. I told them that I wasnt buying the car today and I was going to get the vehicle on my own without a co-signer. Well they run my credit, which I gave them permission to do so, but instead of showing me the cars, as they were in their back lot, while we waited on the credit report, they left me sit there.
Once they got the credit report back, they "belted" that I didnt have any credit, which I had already told them. Then the credit manager and the sales manager went on to say that I didn't make ENOUGH money for them to finance me for any dollor amount. It wasn't so much as what they said, it was how they said it, like I was worthless, and wasnt going to ever get into a new car in the near future.
As I get ready to leave, both the managers and the salesperson shake me. I turned around to leave then one of the managers said, don't come back until you have a co-signer. Hearing that I was really pissed and slamed the door as I exited the building.
To this day, I still tell everybody whos looking for a car, that unless they want to ridiculed, and put down in front of everyone don't go to Bill Heard Chevrolet.
Just one last word to Bill Heard Chevrolet, two days later I went right down the street to F** F** (((ROR REDACTED FOR SECIRITY PURPOSES))) and guess what? I was financed on the spot and am driving around a brand new 2006 FORD focus.
Another thing, I know most car dealerships have bad raps, but the way I was treated at Bill Heard was unbelievably wrong, first the run around with the "made up advertisement", then with the whole demeaning with my financial status, I guess if your in business to make young girls cry, then you found the right dealership to work.
