Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
It is getting so hard for me to get out of a 1-yr contract from Body of change due to poor quality of service, that I started reviewing articles/complaints regarding the Body of Change and sure enough, found tons of articls on 'RipOffReport' confirming my belief.

My complaint is similar to Report #288486 where I was promised customized exercise programs, nutrition assessments, and monthly body assessments by the Manager at Plano East facility of "Body Of Change" - part of LA Fitness to meet my personal goals in September 2007. I was also promised that to meet my personal goals, I would be assigned one trainer (as per their general norm) who would stay with me through out my 1-year contract. These statements were misleading and false as none of what was expressed took place.

Since the month of November, I have been assigned 4 different trainers who never tried to understand my 'personal' goals; who never enquired about my nutritional habits; my monthly body assessment so far has happened just once that too, only for 'my record' and not for any of their analysis! The training sessions seemed more generic and had nothing in specific focussed to my 'personal' goals in mind i.e., no program developed to meet my needs! The first trainer stated that I needed to do 30 min cardio after 30 minute of Weight training ; whereas the other one would come and say just the reverse. There have been a time when the trainer didnt show up and I have been 'charged' for that session. On another account, they were not even courteous enough to let me know that my trainer has quit the company (even the trainer didnt care to let me know!) and that I would be assigned to a new trainer. After 15 days of not being able to book my training session with the trainer, I showed up at the Fitness center to figure it out by myself. Due to my frustration, I was promised another trainer who would stay with me for a long time and the 4th training session, he didnt show up either!

After much frustration, when I requested them to cancel my service due to poor service; they are asking me to pay 50% of contract amount to break the contract.

How ridiculous can it be?????

I would really appreciate if someone could help me and help everybody else, who might be in my shoes!

now if only they can pay their trainers more

The trainers quit because they get paid 6 bucks for that 30,40, 50 dollar HALF hour session. BOC does not give raises either. Imagine being a trainer and you're at a place for 5 hours but actually trained people that day for 3 hours which means 6 clients. 36 bucks is what you make that dayand after taxes about 30 or so. When you have bills to pay this does not even cut the rising gasoline costs and coffee or energy drink they need to start there day and make it there. As far as what the trainers told you to do they are both right. Cardio before or after would be just fine for you. People like you are gonna be into burning calories and I assume you're not an athlete so either way should help with shedding fat. As far as nutrition goes shouldn't you inquire about nutrition and ask questions if you feel you aren't getting the information you want. That is your time and I suggest you use it wisely. Are they suppose to read your mind? To be honest most clients don't listen anyway to nutrional information and the ones that do see nice results. I used to mention Whey protein, and cutting sugars from diet and eating several smaller meals and clients eat like garbage most of the time. Remember they are your trainer for 30 minutes 4 times in a month you are your own trainer the rest of the month. One thing I think you should understand is you are one person and those trainers may have dozens upon dozens of clients. The trainers are human beings and may get sick or have family matters and this type of job is hard to call out. I have seen the reverse happen where trainers are there and clients do not call and it happens every day to the trainers. But then again who cares for the trainers right? Not BOC that is for sure and certainly not you.

The VP of BoC was kind enough and empathized very well with my situation. He cooperated with me and made me good offers to restore my belief in Body of Change. I am a happy camper now and it would be my pleasure to try the 'new' BoC some day soon. I am glad that you believe in keeping your customers happy. Thank you so much VP for being extremely supportive.

Even though I was completely unsatisfied with quality of service provided by Body of Change members, the VP of Body of Change was kind enough and empathized with my situation and is taking me out of contract with no penalty. Thank you so much BoC VP! If we have people like you within the organization, we will continue to be your members. I was just unlucky to encounter some of your bad employees and I am glad that you are working to improve the Quality of Service offered to us.
