Complaint Review: Charles Mark & Vickky Hoyte - Boston Massachusetts

I had the same experience as others have reported, but with a different company. I replied to an email ad for a work-from-home Accounting Clerk/Data Entry I found on Money Making Mommy (the more info link took me to a Craiglist ad posted in Atlanta). I received this email back from Charles Mark [email protected]:

Hello Your resume was currently reviewed the mean time you are to set up a yahoo ID and add up the hiring manager to [email protected] so that you can be brief and interview more about this online work from home data entry/accounting/book keeping and payroll job.

I created a new yahoo account because I was having trouble logging in with my old one and went a similar interview as the other people who reported this scam. Unfortunately my message history did not keep a copy of the IMs but a lot of the script Vickky used was the same wording as Western & Toms. I was told I would need to purchase MYOB & Peachtree from their supplier for $255 and a new HP laptop would be provided. I asked about a refund policy and this form was sent to me:

Important note:Your itemized receipt must include the information shown blow with an***if your receipt does not contain the this information your claims cannot be processed and you wil need to contact The store bank or where you have make the payment for a new receipt which include the required information and you will scan it to the hiring manager thats employees you via Email.

Luckily I have a brain and started to do an intensive investigation. The BBB had a listing for Phoenix Technologies, but not at the address I was given. The Craigslist ad is no longer available, it has been flagged for removal. Hmmm Craiglist Atlanta but company is in Boston? The website didn't mention anything about work from home jobs under their career section. Another couple of red flags. Eventually my search led me to this site and by searching MYOB I found the other posts with the same type of scam but different names.

Do I have to worry that I sent them my resume? They have my name, address, phone number, email and age but not my social insurance number, date of birth, CC info or banking info.

I hesitate to put this report under Phoenix Technologies, or add the website address I was given, because I think they are being used without their knowledge. I will be contacting Phoenix Technologies to let them know about this.
