In my area of WI we are stuck with Charter and their poor service, lack of customer service and poor installation, but what really hurts is their billing practices.

The latest example happened to both my neighbor and myself. We moved to a new duplex and had our service transfer. When the tech arrived he informed first myself and then a few weeks later my neighbor that since we did not have the landlords written consent we could only have 1 phone that would have to be spliced off of the master bedroom cable and our internet connection had to be spliced off of the living room cable. We could not have cable in the basement nor in the 2 otherbedrooms until we got the landlords letter.

I called the landlord and he asked for a contact. I once again call Charter to be told they would not give out the contact info and said that they would not install the extra lines that we need until they had it in writing.

In the mean time I recieved a bill for 3 month plus $68.31 for tranfer fees. When I called their 888 # I was told that they where not "doing anything wrong" as this was a carry over from my old account. Since I had made a payment to them I asked them to explain. I was told that my special offer had expired and my bill raise was $30.00 per month but I would have to pay for a tech to come out and correct what the tech did not hook up..... the phone to my existing phone lines the first time.

This has not been the only lack of service and over charging that Charter has done to me personally.

A year ago I returned home to find that I had no Cable. I was told they could not send a tech out unless their where 5 other people in the ares without cable. I had to schedule an appointment for them to come out. I scheduled it for the next day. I told them that the problem was in the outside line to the house. When I got home there was still no cable. I was told that the tech had been there but didn't find anything so he left. I then had to schedule another appointment but the only time they had was 5 days out on a Saturday.

After checking the inside they finally figured out it was outside. I was without cable for over a week. When I recieved my next bill, I was billed for the full amount.

I called to complain but was only offered $15.00 but guess what, I never recieved that either.

If Charter doesn't want WI as customers they should be striped of their right to do business here.

I have not heard of anyone here who is satisfied with their service.

"OFFER EXPIRED" IS STANDARD CHARTER RIPOFF SCAM

Charter does this routinely. They advertise a price, they promise you the service for the advertised price, then they jack up your bill. SURPRISE! They claim that "the offer has expired" and they will never resolve it, never keep their promises. They have done this to you, to me, to thousands of others. This is classic bait and switch fraud. If you are calling their customer service to resolve it, forget it. All they will do is avoid the issue, and give you the standard Charter runaround. This is the worst communications company in the USA, the most dishonest, and Consumer Reports magazine or many other sources will confirm this. The best we can do at this point is to demand that our state utilities commissions, our city councils, the FCC throw Charter out of our cities and states. They should not be allowed to do business in this country at all. They have repeatedly breached the public's trust. You are their latest victim, but as charter knows, there are many more where you came from. DEMAND that your cities, your state REPLACE Charter NOW. We deserve much better than the lowest rated customer service in America.
