I am normally a skeptical person and almost never give my credit card information on an internet site, and due to my lack of caution this time, I have now become a firm believer in continuing my vigilance.
In April this year, I was attracted by the offer of a 2 week trial period with Cinaplay.com. It is sometimes difficult for me to go to a video rental place and I had heard about other providers and thought that this was similar (I understood that the usual charge was about 10.00 a month - so I assumed and wrongly so, that these internet streaming providers were similar)
Like a dodo, I applied for the free trial and gave my information. In return I did not get any confirmation nor was I advised of the fee once the trial period was over. (I checked through all my mail - there was nothing)
On my credit card bill last month, there was a charge from Cinaplay.com for around 1.00, so I thought, 'Oh, they have started charging, but 1.00 a month is okay, even though I did not use the site even once.'
To my utter suprise, I got my credit card statement yesterday and I discovered not one, but two charges for 49,950 whatever - doesn't even mention what denomination this is and the charge is from CINAPLAY.COM MAURITIUS. Whatever this is for, it is a huge ripoff! I have never paid this much money for movies - even from Video Rental Shops - in my life.
I immediately checked their website and realized that there are many claims against them, so I felt I would like to add my voice. Places like this need to be stopped. We need to keep the internet a safe and happy place.
