If you specifically asked about the laptop being dropped or thrown and having it covered, and the associate said yes; it sounds like you have an Accidental Damage warranty on the laptop. ...but I don't understand the comment "you have to purchase a specific warrany for monitors on laptops." Are you using a seperate monitor for your laptop? If that is the case, then yes; each component would need it's own warranty. The laptop itself would be covered, but not additional equipment hooked to it. I know that some people use their laptops at home as Full Computers with monitor and seperate keyboard/mouse hooked to it. If that is not the case and the laptop itself fell from the table and has an Accidental Warranty, it is covered. Also note that computers are handled out of the store and that could have caused confusion somewhere. Call CityAdvantage for Computers directly at 1-800-555-4615 and they will be able to confirm your specific coverages and setup the proper services. If you do decide to cancel the warranty on the laptop after weighing your options, these people should be able to help. It should be something to the effect of a pro-rated amount of the unused portion of the plan...but I've learned that some state governments have different guidelines for how a company's services are cancelled/refunded/transferred, etc. so I don't want to say how we do it in Michigan and have it cause frustration to you if Florida has a different way. Still, I hope my information is able to help you.

I was just on their site today looking at warranties, etc... If you go to the circuitcity.com site did you search under warranty? I had done that and downloaded their warranty brochure earlier. While looking at it the date on it shows 2006. I am not exactly sure when you bought your computer. I was checking as our Fridge warranty expired. Our fridge is ok... but we did get a renewal notice. Did not know if I really want to renew or want. It does say there you have to write them and they only pro-rate your refund. I think it is not cool what they did to you. Seems they should have just transferred it over to the new one or honored yours unless it has expired. I would fight to get them to honor it. Unfortunately, companies do change their rules all the time. They will do anything in order not to pay you anything. I wish you success in getting your computer taken care of.
