My credit card was stolden and used at Circuit City for almost 8k within two days at the same checker! The cameras have been recovered and an employee has admitted to not checking ID and letting the man use my card knowingly (I am a woman). Now, I have been held responsible for the money. UH? Why the hall should I pay for them letting someone who obviously was NOT me buy all that s**t? They have violated their visa agreement! They have insurence for losses like this! They are in the WRONG! I AM NOT! They have not even once appologised, everyone just keeps looking to me and all I did was have my card stolden and used without my knowledge! I encourage anyone else to report stores letting crack heads use cards to VISA and BBB and file small claims against stores for personal damages and losses. If that does not get their attentiont hen nothing will! -Heidi

At what point did you report your card as being stolen?

While I agree that it was irresponsible for the Circuit City employee to not check the ID of the person using the card, the blame does not rest solely on him or her. Your card was stolen. Were you aware that it was stolen at the time these purchases were made, and if so, was it reported as stolen? Apparently not since the sales went through. While I don't claim to be a credit card expert, I think that the "not responsible for charges made with a stolen card" applies after it's reported stolen??? Many years back I had a card stolen, and although I discovered it within an hour, a charge had already been made and I was responsible for that charge since it was made before the card was reported as being stolen. So if this card was not reported as stolen, I don't think the entire responsibility lies with Circuit City.
