I had a very complex tax problem and had received a mailer from a company called Clear Choice Tax Review. They promised the world in the mailer and they were local so I thought I would give them a call. Boy was I WRONG!! I contacted them and explained my issue and that I had an outstanding debt with the IRS and I wanted to try and negotiate it down and also file some past returns. I was assured by the agent there (I believe named Chris) that they could handle this for me because they had enrolled agents who used to work for the IRS there who knew how to handle this type of problem. So I went in and met with them and they claimed they would collect my documents and begin negotiations with the IRS and would work towards an offer and compromise if I would just pay them an upfront fee of $3500. I gave them all of the requested documents and met with their "enrolled agent." I was not very impressed, he seemed like the guy who worked at the front desk at H&R Block, not a tax wizard. However, the sales agent was VERY convincing and assured me they could settle my debt with the IRS for cents on the dollar. I was skeptical, but ultimately decided that I needed to get this done and believed the salesman. What a mistake.
Several months passed and it seemed that nothing was happening. they kept asking for more and more documents which I tried to send as requested. Then Clear Choice Tax Review told me that since I did not send them the requested documents with updated financial information on time that my case was cancelled and closed. They told me to read my contract and that they could do this. I was LIVID and asked to speak with the owner Mike Luong about getting my money back. He told me that I should have read the fine print on my contract because he told me if I don't send the requested paperwork to them when they ask that they can just stop working on my case and keep all of my $3500 fee. this is outrageous. These guys are scammers and liars. I doubt that the tax guy I met with is any type of enrolled agent or CPA or even a licensed tax preparer. These guys play on your hopes by promising that they will settle your debt with the IRS for cents on the dollar, when the truth is this is all just a scam and they cancel you out due to a loophole in their contract. Avoid this company!!

Hi everyone, this is Mike Luong and I would like to address this report even I have no need to as I have left the tax field for over two years now and only a share-holder for Clear Choice Tax, not Clear Choice Tax Review as the author had posted.
Clearly there is no facts to support this statement but to say, the only person that would retaliate and conduct any childish behavior is my former sad to say, business partner Devin Benter at CORE Advisory Group Svcs, LLC. would blatantly stoop this low as to post a fake report when in FACT, I have not been involved in the tax vertical for almost over 2 years. And if you Devin Benter, can prove otherwise feel free to post any supporting documents to substatiate your claims or cease from this pathetic behavior and be a real professional business man take any personal vendetta and confront me with FACTs not with false allegations and a phony report that makes absolutely no sense what so ever. Nice try Devin, now call Mr. Andy Terhorst, supervising investigator with the Orange County District Attorney's Office, at (714) 648-3615, he would love to hear from you.
