This dentist office charged me fees related to a cleaning which cost me $170.00 , after speaking to other dentists in the area about the fees , I found that I should not have been charged the fees and would not have been charged had I visited their office instead. I tried working with the office manager Cindy about being reimbursed for the fees and I was spoken to very rudely. She constantly raised her voice and talked over me when I tried asking her why the fees were not submitted to the insurance company for review.

I was then told that a patient care worksheet had been signed the charges were valid and I would not be reimbursed any of the fees. I then told her I was not happy with that and would need to be referred to her supervisor. She said the problem was not that I have been overcharged it was that I am not in my right mind and even after being insulted by her, and being hung up on by her. I continued to keep the conversation respectful.

I explained again I have been informed by other dentists that I should not have been charged those fees that I went over all of the codes and charges with the other dentists and they said I should not have been charged the fees they charged me above and beyond what they submitted to the insurance.

Her final response to me was that I do not even have the etiquette to talk to people and her conversation with me was done a long time ago.

I hope this post along with the many many other complaints I have come across will help so that others will be aware of the dentists business practices and not have to go through the same treatment I did.

Also there are lists and lists of complaints about coast dental in every state and at least 57 listed for this office on the Better Business Bureau. They currently have a rating of C- and I'm surprised they even got that much.

Any suggestions that may be of help to me in recovering the fees I was overcharged would be greatly appreciated. So far talking to them has gotten me nowhere but to be informed that I am not in my right mind and I don't even have the etiquette to talk to people. Being told that by a manager of a health services provider after paying a significant amount of money for their services only to find that you have been overcharged fees which other dentists in the area is completely unacceptable.

After my last post about the unnecessary fees I decided to go to a couple other dentists  for second opinions. Not only did I find out that the charges I encountered were unnecessary based on my level of insurance, I also found that the 1/4 mouth cleaning that they did needs to be completely re-done.

The x-rays I purchased from Coast Dental to take to the new dentist were done with such old outdated machines , the x-rays were not even legible . I have spoken to several different people at Coast dental and have yet to find anyone who cares even the slightest bit what I have been through with their Apopka office.

It's not only their low level of services, exorbitant amount of fees: but their out right rudeness and uncaring attitude that has me so set back by all of this. I don't understand how they are allowed to get away with this in a health profession. Lets make one thing clear THEIR IS NOTHING PROFESSIONAL ABOUT COAST DENTAL.

I would really appreciate if whomever was so kind to post a number for me to call would straighten out my billing issue, I have called several times, have yet to get a professional person, or any help at all for that matter . After all the fees I have paid and charges which were charged to my credit card I still show an unpaid balance.

The problem is the bill I received and the balance in the office are two different numbers.

I work in the dental industry - unfortunately businesses cut costs on dental insurance by hooking up with the dental clinics who do not offer the highest level of dentistry - due to costs...all dentistry is not the same - if it's cheaper, they have to cut costs somewhere with cheaper materials, cheaper labs, these places move people in and out like cattle since they agree to get paid less they see more people - beware and remember the old saying...you get what you pay for...in every and any industry...unfortunately this is a health care industry which is consistently under rated, partially because of these clinics...this is your health..why would you think the cheaper way is the better way????? You are not going to get the best unless you pay for it.

Wow.  That is a canned response if I have ever seen one.  This certainly shows the lack of care this company shows.

Thank you for your comment. Coast Dental's standard fees are routinely below the average price for the services provided. When a patient submits a dental insurance plan, Coast Dental must charge the fees contractually determined by the patient's insurance carrier.  Our policy is to research insurance coverage and present a thorough treatment plan to the patient including the estimated costs insurance does not cover.

Please contact our Patient Relations team at 855-455-6601 to discuss your specific situation.  Thank you.
