Called Consumer Cellular to ask why my cell phone did not come with a automobile charger?  The first agent I spoke with, Ashley indicated that I had ordered the cell phone back in November of 2014, and that I should have called in regarding not receiving the auto charger within the first 45 days.  Furthermore, I was told that there was an extra charge of approximately $10.50 had I ordered it with the initial purchase.

Unfortunately, I was never advised that the automobile charger would not be included, and that it would cost an additional $10.50.  However, now that I called in and was out of the 45 day window, I would have to pay $28.00 for the charger.  I asked Ashley if she could allow me to have it at the $10.50, even though I was no longer within the 45 day window?  Evidently, I was 13 days over.  She checked with a Supervisor, and the answer was "no."  I then asked to speak with a supervisor (Joseph), who said that the supervisor that denied me was higher up than him and, as such, that supervisor could not be overridden.

I was now transferred to a supervisor "higher" than Joseph.  The "higher supervisor," Eric, rehashed everything all had told me.  In other words he would NOT override the decisions, made by the previous agent/supervisors.  Quite honestly, I am now disenchanted with Consumer Cellular, since I was never told the Auto charger was NOT included in my order, when sold to me over the phone.  Evidently, it's "tough luck" that I hadn't called in within the first 45 days.  Unfortunately, that fact that I didn't bother to call in within the allotted 45 days, I would now have tto pay $18.00 more.  That's great customer service, isn't it???  I will look into taking my business elsewhere.

This is not a Ripoff

First of all I don't think I have ever seen a Cell Phone come with a CAR Charger.  Perhaps one of my first ones did a couple of decades ago but I can't remember having any for my last few phones.

So perhaps you got somehwere where you "thought" that it comes with a car charger.  But the fact that they did not tell you it does NOT come with one is NOT a Ripoff.  After all they could tell you it does not come with a dozen other things right.  So if you come back and say that they never told you it didn't come with a "Selfie Stick"(Look it up) would you say that they now owed you one?

Or let's put this another way.  If you were to go buy a box of 8 crayons.  Are you going to ask them what colors it does or does not come with?  You of course would ask what colors it comes with..right?  If a specific color (say purple) was of interest to you would you ask them if it came with purple or would you get in a huff if you got the crayons with no purple in it and them expect to provide you a purple crayon?  But not only that..would you wait almost 60 days to ask them?  Oh and yes the parallels to your "Ripoff" is there.

But then we get to the time it took you to call them..58 days.  If this was such an important item why didn't you call them the moment it arrived without the charger?  Why did you wait 58 days?  But then they "throw you a bone" and say that only if you called within 45 days they could get  you one for $10.50.  Where you are now in a huff because it is 13 days past that.  So just on that one point, just how many days past the 45 days should they still let you get the discount?  13 days?  15 days?  What if you came back 6 months later?

But let me help you out.  If your phone has a USB cord, you can go to just about any "Big Box" Store(Electronics, Office Supply..etc) and pick up a USB Car Charger Adapter.  You can then use the USB cable for your phone in the adapter and charge it up.  The even better news, you can find a decent one in the $5-$10 range, of course depending on where you shop they may be as high as $20.  If it doesn't have a USB Cable, you can still find a charger but depending on where you go and your exact phone it could be in the $10-$30 range.
