DO NOT BUY A DOG FROM HERE. The Puppies are sick and mistreated. The Owner Alice Counts has no business ethics whatsoever and hangs up on her customers when they have complaints. She has told me in person that some of her puppies were sent back due to infection with PARVO. I put a deposit for two puppies and learned this after the fact. Now she wont refund my deposits to me after I told her I don't want her puppies. I told her is there isn't any refund policy outlined on the sales invoice or on her website. She hung up on me and later that day she went on her website and put "NO REFUNDS" on the home page. Everytime I call her she hangs up now. BUYER BEWARE. Do not give this woman a dime of your money.

The website clearly states about the deposits. Most breeders hold the same view on deposits as non refundable. If someone sends a deposit, its a promise from them to buy what your selling, and a promise from the person selling to hold that item for them. If a buyer backs out from buying, that is their right, however there is no right to get back the deposit.

Having a puppy returned to them with possible Parvo symptoms is not enough for a buyer to back out of a deposit. You may have missunderstood that people return a puppy THINKING it's parvo when it's actually another germ or just stress diarrhea ( Notice another comment where the person says their puppy had explosive diarrhea from Giardia a parisite ). However even if she told you in the past that she has had puppies returned to her WITH parvo that does not mean that her current puppies would have Parvo, especially in a facility that vaccinates before the puppies go home. It was your choice to back out of the deal, and the loss of your deposit.

This is what I seen ( attached below ) when I looked up the website.

We Accept Deposits
Place a Deposit to hold your place in line for pick of the litter!

Litter information is promptly posted when a new litter is born. Our selection process begins when the pups are 4 weeks old. Each person on the List of Deposits will be allowed 3 days from their date of contact (via email) to make their puppy selection. If no response is received, they will automatically be floated to the next litter. If the contact goes silent for more than 3 months, where there is no response to our inquiries, the person will be moved to inactive status until such time as they make contact with us. If for any reason you don't want to make a selection from a particular litter, you can float your deposit to the next litter.

Your Deposit will hold any pup up to age 6 weeks, however we MUST have payment in full in order to hold a pup past the age of 6 weeks. Pups are released at 8 weeks IAW California State Law.

Please schedule appointments online for Puppy Pickups, Vaccinations, and all Kennel Visits. You can schedule as far in advance as you would like. I plan my deliveries based on my appointment schedule and if your appointment isn't there, I assume my schedule is clear. Scheduling appointments is the sole responsibility of the customer. Beginning the Monday after the pup turns 8 weeks of age, kennel fees of $10/day will apply unless the pup is being shipped or delivered AND Counts Cove Kennels is the reason for the delay. We Accept MasterCard or Visa, Credit or Debit through our secure Payments Page.

All Deposits are Non-Refundable! No Exceptions!

The original poster strikes me as an uneducated tool. Your report is hard to follow, and full of grammatical errors. Thanks. Anyway, moving on.

I have a one year old husky from Counts Cove Kennels. I bought him directly from Alice Counts.

First of all, my husband and I did go through a screening and application process for our puppy because someone had previously bought a puppy and after three days dumped it back at Alice's claiming they weren't cut out for the amount of energy a husky puppy requires. Alice takes back puppies gladly, offering a full refund. After posting this little guy's plight on her Facebook group, he found a home with a family that already owned one of her huskies and is thriving.

My husky had accidentally ingested a substance before we got him - as puppies tend to do. Alice counseled us on how to take care of him and offered to reimburse us any vet bills due to the ingestion. When we got him, he was perfectly healthy! Happy, well adjusted dog. I have had zero problems with him in the last year that weren't off his own making, like eating a rotting dead bird.. Sigh.

When I mentioned to someone that a lady had punched my dog in the face at the dog park, Alice was on the phone calling me within an hour to see how he was holding up. In fact, no issue has been too big or too small for her to immediately address with me and my dog.

I would greatly recommend Alice as a breeder. We even keep in touch with my boy's brother from her CCK litter! And that woman owns two, bought nearly a year apart, both healthy and beautiful.

Alice is EXTREMELY rude to her consumers and I agree with this file against counts cove kennels. I had nothing but problems with my puppy and with the breeder. She refused to give me my puppies registration papers even when I sent her proof of spay. I had to go through AKC themselves just to get my dogs registration. My puppy had an extreme case of gerardia when she came to me and my vet told me she had had it for quite some time before i received her. My puppy was shooting loose stools and hitting the walls from the middle of the room. Giardia comes from a dirty environment and STAGNANT/ UN-CLEAN water. I was also hung up on MULTIPLE times. She is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I would never refer someone to this "breeder" if you want to call them that. They are a great example of a puppy mill, having over 12 litters at one time is outrageous. Just because someone sells a large amount of dogs does not mean they do it the right way!!! Quantity has NOTHING to do with quality. This breeder does not breed quality and does not treat their consumers right!!

WELL KEPT, LOVED, HAPPY DOGS & WONDERFUL BREEDER

After reading this complaint, the only words that come to mind are Slander and Defamation! I Just purchased my Husky puppy from Counts cove kennels and I could not be happier with their service. We first drove from our home in Oregon down to Southern California to see the kennel because we wanted to make sure we were purchasing a dog from good people who are not just running a puppy mil. The FIRST thing we noticed is that the kennel VERY WELL KEPT and the dogs are all HAPPY and LOVED. There is ABSOLUTELY NO SIGNS OF ABUSE (I know what the signs are as I have worked with dogs for 15 years) and Alice and her husband are professional and VERY EASY to work with. Alice was happy to answer all questions we had and was not "rude" in the slightest. We fell in love with "Kodi" the second we saw him but he was too young (only 5 weeks) to be taken home at the time. We ended up coming back home and waited a few weeks until he was old enough to come "home". Alice actually DROVE him out to us and delivered him to us on a day that was convenient for us. She gave us a big bag of food for him, his shots are as current as they can be, I am a vet tech, so she also gave me his future puppy shots so that I can give them to him when the time comes to do so. He is AKC registered, OFA certified, Microchipped and just perfect in every way! So far, Kodi has been with us for 1 month. He is as healthy as can be, VERY loving, NOT ABUSED and he has already bonded with our one year old and snuggles with the cat at night. He was crate trained in 1 day and was sleeping through the night in 3 days. He is only 12 weeks old but he is almost completely potty trained. So not only is this breeder legit and caring of their dogs. They also offer high quality, intelligent & beautiful puppies.

My thoughts on the Parvo are this: I had a dog that almost died of parvo about 9 years ago. She contracted this virus while living in the SAME backyard and house that she had lived in her whole life. Parvo is a virus, much like the flu except even more contagious. Once it gets in the soil, it can stay there for up to 2 years before it finally dies off. Not to mention that if that soil that had parvo in it were to get swept away by wind and replaced (as must have happened when our dog contracted it) it will infect that area as well. To me, that just proves that she is a good breeder. She was taking the dogs back that were infected in order to nurse them back to health! I WOULD BUY A PUPPY FROM THIS BREEDER OVER AND OVER AGAIN WITH NO REGRETS.

You do know that Parvo is not caused by people right? This sounds like a personality conflict to me...so because you didn't get along with the owner then you are going to slander her name and company? The puppies sick and mistreated? Do you have any basis of these accusations???

I would advise anyone that reads this persons complaint to take into consideration how many puppies they have sold throughout the 17+ years that they have been in business and how many VALID complaints you can find...

Don't let this person's comment discourage you from purchasing a puppy from Counts Cove Kennels! I have 2 german shepard dogs (sisters) that I purchased in 2004 and have several friends, family members and co-workers that have also purchased from this kennel and are 100% happy and satisfied with their puppies.

Proud momma of Luck and Star of Counts Cove Kennels!
