DELL, TECH, Repair, Warranty Service DELL Computers Service DELL PC REPAIR/TECHNICAL SUPPORT SCAM! WARRANTED ITEM SEND, CLAIMS OF NONEXISTENT PROBLEMS, INFLATED REPAIR COST WAS DROPPED FROM $360 TO $199 WHEN TOLD TO SEND LAPTOP BACK UNREPAIRED. RIPOFF Round Rock Texas
My DELL laptop's LCD screen started to show black edges around the screen, and it was still under warranty for 30 more days. After talking to Dell chat, I was told it was a warranty repair and they send me a empty box through DHL.
DHL picked it up Friday,and some guy from India called 5 later, and claimed that I caused this damage and I had to pay for the repairs. The pricetag was $360. The man barely spoke english and didn't seem to understand any of my questions on what exactly was broken. He kept reading of the same answer, so I told him to send my Laptop back, unrepaired and hung up.
They called me again the next day, and I told them the same thing: Send it back, Don't repair it, If I spend another $360 it would be on a different brand, on a new computer. Suddenly "Steve" claimed to have talked to a supervisor and they could drop the price to cover "just" the part, $199. But there was so much more wrong with it and broken, and he listed several things, it really wouldn't be working right. They also claimed that I had spilled some orange matter on the keyboard, and must have dropped it. I know that I never spilled anything on it or dropped it.
He repeatedly ignored my request to return my item, so I asked for the supervisor. Quickly he told me I could talk to him, but he could just send it back.
8 days later I still did not have my laptop back, so I called. John, the guy with the accent from India, said it was being put together and shipped off within the next 2 bussines days.
It took another 11 days before I finally got it back. My Laptop was dirty and the Lid with the LCD screen wasn't even snapped together.
I already have a DELL desktop that died before it should have. Never again will I buy another DELL computer!
