This company is quite simply the absolute worst moving company I've ever had to deal with in my life.  Although they "lost" thousands of dollars worth of my stuff AND scammed me by just about doubling my "Binding" price quote after they had my belongings on their truck and left the pick up location, I couldn't be happier that I never have to speak to these rude scumbag people ever again in my life.

I had first received a quote for my move from Nick Rucci on January 22nd for $891 to move up to 1500 lbs of furniture and boxes from Naples, FL to Chicago, IL.  I had been shopping around quotes over the week and finally decided to go with Delta on Jan. 27th after Nick Rucci had verbally promised me that they would pick up my stuff in Naples the following day, January 28th and that I would have it in 4-7 days.  I also had checked on their insurance and DOT info prior to the move.  I found one other Ripoff Report about Nick Rucci before the move and I questioned him about it and he told me that it had been taken care of and the lady is happy now.  It sounded believable and being a business owner myself I know that you can't please everyone every time.  Plus Nick also agreed to package 2 big mirrors and my glass table top included in the $891 price quote.  I didn't want additional packaging charges on my bill and I wanted everything built in to my price quote so there would be no surprises at all.  I explained that to him and he said that everything else that I had on my list could be packaged in blankets so no additional packaging should be used.  I was happy with that, he actually said "There will be no hidden charges, we don't do that".  Funny.

So--they were supposed to pick up the stuff on Thursday the 28th between 12-1pm in Naples.  I had already moved to Chicago, so my brother in law went to meet them there.  Nobody showed up.  I called the office, their dispatch guy Sam said that it would be later that day around 4pm.  By brother in law went back.  Nobody came.  I called Sam back and he said it would be either the following day or the next (Saturday).  On Friday when I called to confirm they said they couldn't do that.  They finally picked everything up on Sunday, Jan 31st.  It sucked and it was a hassle, but thats not even the beginning of it.  The rude driver, Mike, loaded the stuff with the help of my brother in law.  They put random stuff like other boxes and chairs into big wardrobe boxes.  My sister was asking if I would be charged for those and Mike kept saying "NO".  They were finally done and loaded it up, Mike asked my sister to sign off on the Bill of Ladding which also showed $891.  She asked if it was the same contract that was given to me and he said yes that was what I had.  She signed, and he didn't give her a copy of the Bill, which was definitely her mistake but she didn't realize that I didn't actually have that one.   Mike left and changed the Bill of Ladding that already had her signature on it and added $587 in packaging charges for 4 wardrobe boxes, 4 mattress boxes (We only shipped 1 mattress and 1 box spring) and 12 rolls of tape.  He also added a $68 scale fee...all of which were charges that none of us were notified of before Mike left Naples.

I called Sam about 4 days later to see what was happening, because they were supposed to call me to confirm a delivery date.  Sam said that it was good news, that I didn't go over my weight limit of 1500 lbs, so I wouldn't be charged more.  I was happy about that, everything sounded good...he said that the delivery driver would be calling me shortly to schedule the delivery.  Nobody ever called.  Days kept going by, I kept having to reach out to them.  Every day they had another excuse...snow delays, trucks broke down, you name it.  All of this time surprisingly Nick Rucci is never available.  He already had my stuff and ran my credit card so he basically fell off the face of the Earth after that.  Finally Susan from Customer Service called me and said that our stuff should be there in about 3 more days.  She said, "I just want you to be aware that there is an additional $587 charge for packaging materials and a $68 scale fee all of which needs to be paid in cash before the driver will open the doors to the truck."  I flipped my lid.  I showed her my contract that Nick promised to package the glass pieces for free, she eventually took off $120 and the $68 scale fee.  I was still extremely angry about paying any additional charges at all as I had previously been told that I wouldn't have to deal with that by Nick.  They basically had full control as they had thousands of dollars of my furniture that I desperately needed.  I finally gave in since I had no other choice.

After the truck left I got online to search for Transportation Attorneys.  I ended up contacting Move Rescue (Google them if you need help) and I spoke to a great attorney there who explained a couple different things I could do and that these people are doing a lot of things that were completely illegal and/or unethical.  After discussing some of my options I decided I was better off just getting whatever discount I could get from the company and pay the amount and get my stuff.  I figured I'd pay the extra money and do everything I can to stop this company from doing this to anyone else, hence this Ripoff Report.

They took another week to get here and finally a truck came on February 13th.  The movers had this truck packed out, and they had some other people's furniture strapped down on the rear lift exposed to the brutal winter weather.   Poor people.  After arguing for about an hour with the drivers and Susan (on the phone) I finally gave in and paid the full balance.  They put half on my credit card and another $600 in cash.  The drivers opened the doors and started unloading boxes and furniture, sliding most of it down a ramp.  Boxes were being ripped and thrown around.  It turned out that none of the stuff was mine.  I freaked.  I called Susan who was finally somewhat apologetic, who let me know that she has no idea where my stuff is and that I would have to wait until Monday for them to find it.  I demanded my $600 cash back and the guys left.

My stuff FINALLY got to me this Monday, February 27th.  This time the movers were much more professional, but they were from another company that Delta contracted out to.  These guys let me look at my belongings in the truck before I paid which made me feel better after all I had been through with this company.  The two guys moved everything into my condo and then we realized that I was missing my $1600 queen sized mattress that I bought last year.  Some of the other things had new dings and dents and they smashed a plastic storage box that they attempted to fix with some tape, picture attached.  I got on the phone with Susan right away who said, "Geez this is the never ending story..." as if to say that she's sick of dealing with me.  At this point nothing surprised me so I remained calm.  She said that she was going to have to find my mattress and would call me...if it was lost I would have to file a claim with their insurance.  She called back to let us know that she wouldn't charge us for the extra mattress delivery lol.  Crazy.

So, in the end this move was supposed to cost me $891 and take less than a week to receive my stuff.  It ended up costing $1,178 after Susan had deducted some of the packaging materials and gave us a very small inconvenience discount, plus I lost my $1600 mattress.  Susan was supposed to call us by Friday, yesterday, to let us know if they found my mattress or if we should file a claim.  No call.

The bottom line is that this company should be shut down.  This is a scamming company and they will slip ANYTHING by you that they can.  Make sure you get a copy of the Bill of Ladding or they will doctor it after they have your stuff.  DO NOT EVER HIRE THEM!!  They are liars that will tell you ANYTHING to get you to hire them and once you do they will make you pay every way they can!   Do yourself a favor and hire a major moving company.  Trying to save some money with a cheaper, smaller company could end up just like mine did.  Had I hired one of these other major companies I would have ALL of my furniture on the date they agreed to and I actually would have saved money!  It's crazy that Delta Moving and Storage AKA Precision Movers is even still in business.

I'll update this soon once I find out what their insurance is going to give us on our claim for our mattress.
