Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
The company of money school had been in research and development for almost seven years when I met chris barrell of discovery beach australia (dba) at a respectable business lunch in swindon, wiltshire on the 2nd July 2005.

I was cautious about giving comments about my publishing project; barrell, had said, '...we have successfully worked on education products before.'

I did as much research as I could about the 'cleanliness' of dba and they seemed to be 'flawless' at the time. I also asked some australian based people to check the dba out, again, they came up clean.

I then bought a copy of the cd for 399.00 and filled in over 480 questions on a screen-based questionnaire. This is called the first stage assessment.

The website of DBA claim: a decade of development, the dba system: our 'asset creation' design process.' process 1: ideas and discovery, process, 2: evaluation: first stage analysis (fsa); process 3: sra- strategic review analysis (fsa); 4: implementation and empowerment, under this heading (a) legal, operational, management, marketing, capital, (b) management structure, key people, product and services range, the company's vision and culture, current client/customer base, marketing methodology, debt/equity, divestment, merger/acquisition, joint venture, licensing, paralnvestment, due diligence appraisal. Stage 5: parainvestment and private equity funding.

After completing the (sra) a strategic review proposal (srp) was sent to us as part of the sra. within the sra there is a considerable amount of information and within this document there is written a guarantee to fund the project that alan burrell, chairman of wisetrack pty limited investments has signed.

The signed guarantee gave us the confidence to hand over 12,000 (australian) $31,2000. this was supposed to be our contribution to the 50,000 needed to start our business on the road to publishing.

thirteen months had passed and we had not received any substantial information including the promised business plan or the promised funding, business leads, backing of 'key' people or personnel that is stated in the srp of the dba gaurantee.

on three separate occasions, extreme pressure was put on me to sign licence agreements to release intellectual property for all the books and products i have written and all of the books and products i was to write in the future.

we have demanded a refund and rescinded the contract.

The dba company is a sham. it's sole objective is to prey on people who have dedicated years of work to a project with the operators of dba then taking ownership of the intellectual property.

I will have to check later today on the availability of the license as I have not been personally involved in the project for some time. The questions I can answer are as follows: do you have any photos, drawings etc. of the completed machines? Yes, these will be available. - would the license enable us to market it under our own brand name? Yes, subject to license agreement conditions. - is the license based on a royalty per machine, a one off payment, or some other combination? As I understand it, based on a once-only license fee, plus royalties. - where is the overseas design partner located, and what is the process of getting design changes done if we were to require them? The design partner is in Wales, and changes would be managed there. - how soon would the manufacturing plans and drawings be available to us if we elected to go ahead? (we would want them as soon as possible) As far as I am aware, the plans and drawings should be available immediately. - could you please give some indication to license costing if we were to proceed In terms of license costing, this would depend to an extent on the nature of your business and the territory that you would wish to cover. Could you provide me with a profile of your business, your specific requirements and the plans you have for the metal spinning side of the business? This would help, as we have a lot of information on the applications into which the machine has been sold in Australia. I look forward to hearing from you. We have been extremely busy over the last few years, and are currently looking to expand our business into the manufacture of the metal spinning machines themselves. This would fall into that category. Our next meeting is this Tuesday. If possible, it would be most important that this information be available to present to the board at that meeting. Other "Success Stories" ..Three Cheers for Rip Off Report

"Discovery Beach Australia" "Discovery Beach International" "Discovery Beach Group" "Bernard O'Brien" ... could all use a "rip off report" webpage of their own. Do an "advanced search" on this website for "Discovery Beach" and you will understand why!! Recently, these people have spent all their time closing down websites that have told stories about how they were scammed out of their money. Rip Off Report is the only site that has remained open. "Three Cheers for Rip Off Report" In fact, there is even some suggestion that they have threatened Google to remove some of the results that have disclosed some of these stories. Here are some of DBA's other "Success Stories". Discovery Beach no longer publish this list, as they have a "Failure Story" to tell. There are a number of these companies that are now in Administration. The Original Ripoff Report Title: Chris Barrell & Bernard O'Brien Of Discovery Beach Australia UK / Australia Fraudulent, Misleading Information, Broken Promises, LiesTweed Heads NSW and Chris Barrell of Bristol, BS5 6DJ Bernard O'Brien NSW 2486 The Original Ripoff Report Text: Our publishing company had been in research and development for almost seven years when I met chris barrell of discovery beach australia (dba) at a respectable business lunch in swindon, wiltshire on the 2nd July 2005. In an attempt to get me to sign the Licence Agreement, I received a work contract stating my salary would be 75,000 a year. When I asked 'where would this money come from to pay my salary? Bernard O'Brien stated, from the sale of the books.' We had not made many sales at that point nor were we able to go into production because Bernard O'Brien had not put the monies into our company that were mentioned in the srp. we have demanded a refund and rescinded the contract. The dba company is a sham. it's sole objective is to prey on people who have dedicated years of work to a project with the operators of dba then taking ownership of the intellectual property. Bernard O'Brien maintains that he is a barrister and indeed, I have a letter from his solicitor, that says he does not have a license to practice law - again, this adds to the sham put forward by him and his company. Discovery Beach Australia does not have the expertise, financial backing, business base nor the credentials to run the company they say they are running. Patricia B United Kingdom
