May 30, 2013. Estimated cost based on 2000 lbs at .55 per pound. After pick up driver said I was ALMOST 2 1/2 time over weight but would be willing to make a deal. Originally thought they were mandated to weigh the load, but under pressure and duress of the day he saild I could pay $1000 and the balance of $1600 on delivery. I indicated I did not have that kind of money and I would need the one month free storage to figure out the remainder of the cost. He said I would have to work out any further arrangements with management.
June 8, 2013. I received a call from a driver saying they would deliver the shipment the next day after 4pm and do I have the money. I said no and they would have to put it in storage. I was the informed they don't have free storage available in Florida and that if I didn't come up with the money the would put it an an auction barn and I would have to pay for storage and another $500-$600 for re-delivery, and if I don't come up with the money, my shipment will be auctioned off. I have been able to stall them until this Friday for my final answer.
Needless to say I have family keepsakes, books and research materials in the shipment that would be painful to lose and impossible to replace. I feel like I have been deceived and shaken down by this operation.
Please assist.
