Dr. Shrager sounds like he is in denial. This is a typical drug addict's response and he has probably been conning people his whole life because that is what addicts do to get more drugs. He has a very serious mental illness and should not be performing surgery on innocent patients. The New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners will soon be investigating this quack. Malpractice insurance companies also need to be aware of him as well as the IRS.

I am Dr. Brian Shrager. I am a compassionate and dedicated physician. Nine years ago, I made a judgement error and wrote a Hydrocodone prescription to myself for back pain from which I was suffering. This was discovered and I was convicted of a misdemeanor; I had not yet begun my medical training and I was not authorized to write this prescription. I lost my medical training permit in Pennsylvania. I never used a substance of any kind in or around any facet of my clinical work, including patient care and performance of surgery. I have also never used cocaine in my life. These are fallacious and mean-spirited allegations. I have never lost a medical position. I completed residency in New Jersey; I served a one year surgical position in Florida and then decided to change jobs so that I could return to a location closer to my family. Please allow me to move on with my life and continue to provide care to my patients and support to my family.
