I do not own an automobile, nor do I have a driver's license. Drive America made me a member for its Auto Club without any authorization. I have contacted Driver America 3 times. Their customer representative told me that 30-day free membership was marketed to all members in January 2006. Frankly, I was away in China until Feb. 12, 2006. I did not pick up my mails until 2/15/2006.

I had been away since Oct. 2005. I had never known/needed such membership until first credit bill hit me in Mar. 2006. Drive Aemerica started charging since 2/18/2006.

Since then, I have cancelled my Sears Master card that forced this membership to me. Drive America had only refunded me one out of two $6.95 monthly charges. With one monthly charge and late fee, I owe $23.02 to Sears Master card. Please help me fight off such senseless rip-off targeted seniors. Without any authorization, Drive America is targeting anyone and charges $6.95/month at will.

Both Drive America and Sears MasterCard are associated with Citigroup. Citigroup is such a giant, but it should not rip-off innocent people at will.

A simple written dispute would have ended it!

Under FEDERAL Law, you have 60 days from the date the transaction was first billed to dispute it. $6.95 is hardly worth throwing a fit over and cancelling a card, etc.. All you had to do was dispute it in writing and ask to see what you signed to authorize it. Done. With credit cards you have to read all fine print when accepting a new card or taking anything promotional. This is where they throw this stuff in. It is perfectly legal. Now that you have closed the account, it is unlikely you will get a refund. Maybe $6.95 is worth going to small claims for, or was it $23?
