On 12/27/2012 I contacted Events and Adventures of Vienna, Virginia with the simple intention to be solicited for information. What occurred pretty shocking and I caution anyone intending to join.

I met with a woman who identified herself to me as Lena Etzkin who completely misinterpreted the terms of the contract.

What I thought I was signing as per the explanation, Ms. Etzkin stated this was a basic contract. After working as a realestate broker for 6 years a basic contract means there is 15-30 day period to rescind. The terms to cancel were never explained to me and when it came down to payment Ms. Etzkin took my card and charged the $500 deposit. When Ms. Etzkin returned into the office I was horrified and thought what's done is done and I can always get out of the contract if I don't like the services.

That evening I attended my first event at a local Chinese establishment. It was ok, until after further conversation with a lady who sitting at our table she revealed she was legally married. The terms in the contract state very clearly and you verify with Events and Adventures that the prospective client is indeed single. This was the first breach of the contract.

The second breach of the contract occurred when a man alleged he had spent time in prison. For what he never stated, but what's relevant is that Events and Adventures is supposed to perform background checks on everyone. The fact that this guy slipped past the security check, the girl was married, the contract was ineffectively and inefficiently explained demonstrates Events and Adventures might seem legit on the surface, but underneath is simply out for suckering and taking advantage of single, divorced people like me who are left under the impression that this could be a cool, fun thing to do, when in reality it's the single worst decision I've ever made.

Lastly, when I contacted Events and Adventures the next day to cancel Susan Marcus shot an email to my request stating this:

"Hi David:

In order to cancel your membership you must meet the requirements, per your contract. Please refer to your membership contract for policies on cancellation. They are specific to moving  100 miles away, or marriage. In both cases the company requires the member to submit documents."

To conclude, don't sign a contract with Events and Adventures, do walk out of the office and think about what you committing too. Lena Eztkin refused to allow me to leave the office and today Susan Marcus screamed at me and hung up the phone after I requested once again to request the return of the $500 deposit.
