My daughter recently lost her job and is a single mother trying to raise her daughter in the Ft. Lauderdale area. Out of desperation she decided to sell her wedding ring so she could make one more months rent on the apartment she had just moved into the weekend prior to her being laid off. She listed it on Craig's List and had a hit from a woman in a foreign country.

Being young and inexperienced in the true ugliness of this world, she went ahead with the supposed sale and shipped the package via Fedex. The woman promised to transfer the funds into her bank account via paypal as soon as she was able to track the package using the Fedex tracking number.

After the 2nd day no funds were transferred and she realized she was the victim of a scam. She immediately called Fedex who told her not to worry they would stop the package, which was sitting in Memphis, and route it back to her. I told her to keep on top of it because I had once recalled a package from Fedex and is was delivered anyway. She tracked it daily and couldn't believe it as she continued to watch it progress to the original destination. She was on the phone sometimes multiple times a day with Fedex, and had even spoken with supervisors who continually assured her that the package would be returned.

Yesterday she was devastated to see that the package had been delivered after her numerous attempts to have it stopped and returned to her. Fedex's explanation was the same as I had received after I had tried to have a package returned. We were both told by customer service that "we are not responsible and can not guarantee that it won't be delivered". So now my daughter has lost her only hope for trying to keep her apartment. She still has not been able to find a job yet because she worked in the construction industry. Shame on you Fedex you just cost my daughter and granddaughter their home! You should change your slogan to "we will try and get it there, but you can almost bet money we won't return it if something goes wrong!"
