Please remove this from your site. It is apparent that I didn't come across to your readers like I should of. For Your information I got back 50.00 of the hundred dollars.
I could go around with insults towards those who insulted me but it's a waste of my time. Apparently i didn't make it clear that
1. I had a positive balance
2. no purchase was made on that date
3. fifth third bank with out my knowledge took back some money for a prior purchase months earlier.and fifth third bank didn't give a notice that they were going to debit the account I had been fighting the debit with fifth third. Being I get paid every two weeks and yes I was running tight like so many American's I had thought enough until I got paid.
4. What pissed me off the most was. They could of called me and let me know that they were going to debit my account for the purchase that was made a few months earlier. I had been staying at a motel who actually debit my account much later then the actual date I had stayed at the motel. The bank after looking at the receipt decided that I owed the motel the money . They didn't even bother to call me to let me know that they were going to debit my account Had they done that I could taken it from one account to cover it. Instead of doing that it created a negative and then the fees started.
5. Apparently I am not the only one who has gone through this.
6. As far as the one comment about being embarrassed for me don't be. You should be more embarrassed for your town .. and all the Mexican gangs that sell their meth..to the kids in your community. That is the reason I built a new home and left the west side.. The bible belt not. The west side of michigan in my opinion is more plastic then my debit card.
7. I am glad congress passed new laws on credit cards / debit cards maybe more people will be spared the bs I went thru.

General Comment NO ASSUMPTIONS WERE BEING MADE. WE KNOW YOUR BANK FIFTH THIRD GOT PART OF THE BAIL OUT. AND YOU WONDER WHY CONGRESS PASSED A BILL REGARDING CREDIT CARDS/ DEBIT CARDS MONICA.. ??
HOPEFULLY PEOPLE WON'T BE SCREWED OUT OF THEIR HARD EARN MONEY BY GREEDY BANKS LIKE FIFTH THIRD
BANKS LIKE FIFTH THIRD HAVE BEEN TAKING ADVANTAGE OF LAWS TO WORK IN THEIR FAVOR..FOR YEARS AND I STAND BY WHAT I SAID. I HAD A POSITIVE BALANCE IN THE ACCOUNT BEFORE YOU TOOK OUT YOUR SO CALLED FEES THEN I HAD A NEGATIVE BALANCE . IT SURE DID TAKE YOU LONG ENOUGH TO EVEN RESPOND TO THE ORGINAL COMPLAINT MONICA.
YES I GOT BACK FIFTY DOLLARS.. BIG DEAL.. !

I too have a charge like the one described above, "debit card purchase at debit to your acco" from cincinnati 5/3 for $59.87 Here's what's interesting.
Several months ago (yes, several, as in more than 2) we had several charges hit our checking account that had my wife's debit card number. So we went in to our local 5/3 (after calling customer service who couldn't do anything), cancelled that particular debit card, had the charges reversed (which was successful), and thought we were finished.
Well that charge above, for $59.87? It had that old debit card number listed. So apparently either 5/3 never cancelled the card, or 5/3 cancelled it but doesn't care if it's used again?
I called the 800 number, as usual they can do absolutely nothing so I get to go scream at the branch manager tonight.
So I think the person above had a somewhat legitimate complaint, and an accurate checking record would NOT have helped her plan for a theft of the $129.18.
Next time relax and don't be so quick to assume.

NUTS, AND START SPREADING THE WORD ALL OVER THE WORLDWIDE WEB ABOUT WHAT'S TAKING PLACE IN REGARDS TO PEOPLE BEING SCAMMED BY COMPANIES, CORPORATIONS, & even GOVERNMENTS! Remember, GOVERNMENTS are supposed to 'SERVE' the PEOPLE, right? It seems as though our government 'leaders' have other things in mind, wouldn't you agree? Here' some proof- Go to www.9news.com and type in- NEW WARRANT SERVED IN CONNECTION TO PROSTITUTION RING, and read it! It's the article where Microsoft Corporation was seved a 'SEARCH WARRANT' in regards to this 'PROSTITUTION RING' that catered to prominent clients including, quote- 'JUDGES, LAWYERS, BUSINESSMEN, ATHLETES, and POLITICIANS.' While you're at the 9NEWS site, you might as well type this in too- SEX DRUGS & OIL INVESTIGATED IN DENVER FEDERAL OFFICE, and read it! Guess what? Is just plain wrong.....wrong wrong wrong on sooooo many levels. Just from reading the post......all in caps, numerous spelling, typing and syntax errors, I'm not surprised she is mad at the bank and doesn't seem capable of grasping that when you spend more than you have the bank hits you hard....where it hurts......repeatedly even. Grow up....learn to read and write, take some remedial math and then come chat about the big nasty banks taking all your money.

This report isn't very coherent, so let me see if I understand what the OP is trying to say. She made a purchase of 129.18 on March 19, 2009 which caused her available balance to go negative. She blames the bank for the negative balance because she expected ten days to cover that transaction. Meanwhile, the negative available balance causes three additional fees when her prior transactions are processed. A representative from the bank sends her a letter dated March 18th and the Post Office delivers it on March 21st. The letter says that the OP had a positive balance on March 19th (one day after the letter was dated). The part about the positive balance may have been true at the time the bank representative looked at it but for some reason this letter makes the OP so furious that she types her post in all capital letters. That's what I got out of it anyways.

I'm embarrassed to admit this ignorant person lives in the same state I do. You think you have 10 days to get a deposit in to cover an overdraft? What was that all about? It sounds like the bank gave you good advice. Keep an accurate check register and these things won't happen. I doubt if they will miss you but will probably cheer when you leave. Amazing.

If your letter to them was what you wrote here I am surprised they did anything for you. As near as I can figure you spent $129 and they actually debited the money from your account when you did this rather than waiting 10 days...Oh the HORROR. You should instantly go down to your local court house, file a 2 Trillion dollar lawsuit against them for this totally unethical practice. Or better yet..why not do as they say and keep track of your balances. You will NEVER be able to beat money back to the bank to "cover" any purchases. By the way if you really think about it they may not be the one's who don't know how to count.

They debitted your account after you made a purchase. It sounds as if you didn't want it debited then. In the future, keep a check register and record all your purchases. If you practiced proper accounting you would not have been charged insufficent funds fees.
