G.A. Porter Roofing Incompetence resulting in damage ripoff Tampa Florida
I work for a small office in Tampa Florida. G A Porter Roofing Contractor, Inc. Was hired by our landlord to fix some leaks in the roof. The employees came one day before Tropical Storm Ernesto came through Florida.
The roofers pulled a section off of the roof, approximately 100 square feet, and then left for the day. They did not come to work the next day presumably because of the Tropical storm. That afternoon, heavy rains started and water began dripping into my office and the storage room next to my office. At this point, it was nothing that a couple of buckets couldn't handle. One of the employees in the office called the landlord to alert him of the problem.
By the next morning, about 1/4 of the ceiling in the storage room had collapsed and water was pouring into my office as well. The carpet is destroyed in both rooms. Files and equipment were damaged and/or destroyed in the storage room.
G A Porter roofing had removed a large section of our roof, knowing a tropical storm was coming, and had taken no appropriate action to protect the building against rain damage. There was no tarp on the roof or any other precaution. My employer now has to deal with propety damage, clean-up and the loss of billable time for employees because we were all scrambling to save whatever files and equipment we could.
I would say G A Porter Roofing Contractor has shown blatant incompetence and I will be contacting the state licensing board.
