Complaint Review: General Contracting Solutions LLC - Beaumont Texas

Please be aware of this Contractor.   He is a smooth talking conartist.  And if you fall for his charming personality and lies you will be out thousands of dollars.  I am talking about Eric Mafnas....or as we know him Rick of General Contracting Solutions LLC.   We hired Rick for a new addition to our home.  His bid was fair and was close to all the others bids we had gotten.  We did not choose the lowest bid.  He was nice, polite, and seemed very educated as a contractor.   The bid quoted a 3 week finish time, as of today June 2 2014 we just started on week 8.  Needless to say Rick (Eric Mafnas) has been fired.  The job progressed fast for the first week and a half...And as per the signed contract agreement we had paid the 2 agreed upon installment payments.  That is when everything went downhill. A part of the foundation was not dug deep enough per code, and the whole thing had to be jack hammered up and redone.  During this period there were days upon days (Rick/Eric) would not show up and workers would not show up.  Rick/Eric would call and say they would be there, but they never showed.  There was a day Rick/Eric and his crew stayed late to finish the 2nd attempt at the new deeper foundation.  It was evident that Rick/Eric had been drinking and beer cans were seen on my home construction site. His responce was that it was Cinco De mayo day and they were celerbrating.  We wouldhave fired him then but we had already given thousands of dollars to him, we were afraid no other contractor would touch our project.  It was 6 days later Rick/Eric came to us and asked for the 3rd and last payment early...he said he needed to pay his workers and that some of the material we were needing to finish the job had to have a down payment placed to order the product........Needless to say we are out the 3rd payment and our construction project is not finished.   We have not heard from Rick/Eric in 2 weeks.  His workers have not been by in 2 weeks.  One of his subcontractor workers call my home and stated that he had not been paid by Rick/Eric.  He said he was owed over 2200.00.  We have since found out that he has used different names and changed his business names.  His current name he is using is Rick....His current Company name is General Contracting Solutions LLC.   His real name is Eric Mafnas and he has a Georgia Drivers Licence.  He is of Hispanic or Purto Rican nationality, he has a Hispanic wife and they have 3 kids.  His wife and 3 kids acompany him to the job sites at times.  He has had construction / concrete sites on Southeasttexas.com website, and I was also told he had some on Greigslist as well.  What has been done to our addition has proven to be shotty work, and is falling apart.  We have had to hire a brick layer, electriction, ect to finish the project....and now we are out more money.  Well I can say we learned our lesson very well and we are paying dearly for that lesson to be learned.  We are honest and trustworthy people and we got scammed by a smooth talking conartist. 

There is a positive feedback on his website.  That coment was made under direst.  He call our house one day threating a lawsuit and asking if we made a nedative comment on his website.  We did not, but he kept insisting that it was us, and he threated to take legal action.  So the comment on his website if false and it was made under direst. 

Please google the name Eric Mafnas.  You will see many more rip-off reports that date back from 2010 and 2012 in area from Texas and Georgia...

I do not want to see any more people be taken advantage of by the guy
