I applied to Goodwill for their help in finding work, as I am partially disabled and have been unable to find a job. Their commercials (they have lots of those) sure looked good!

I went through their orientation meeting, and then was assigned a counselor to help me on my job search. She told me that there were no openings in their stores. Then she sent me on a search to some companies that were hiring positions that I would have needed either six months experience or a license I didn't have in order to qualify for the job. I told her what I was able to do, she she just forgot to listen. Oops. Then I called several agencies, went through days and days of phone tag only to find out that I was on a futile wild goose chase. If she had taken notes, or listened to my information, none of this would have happened.

She gave me a name of a contact at one agency, who was long gone---and the agency had changed its whole system so that I didn't qualify for the part-time temporary work I had hoped to find there.

The next week I called in to report to her and find out what she could find. She had nothing. I know we are in a recession, but....She had this to say to me: "Your prospects are very dim." Let me repeat the Goodwill job counselor's quote:"Your prospects are very dim." Got it?

She had not spent a minute or two on the computer checking for an odd job...

I received no help, and this woman did nothing at all. Really nothing.

Maybe I would have fallen through yet another crack, but this one was outrageous.

The time alloted for the Goodwill job counselor to give you leads and information is one month. I am now another statistic that was whirled through their employment agency. Do you still believe the commercials?

Do not donate to this agency. The Humane Society does a way better job.
