Upon visiting an exclusive Dealer Expo in Indianapolis in February I came across a very cool looking 250cc chopper that may appeal to our existing small scooter clientel.

I was contacted by Tony, who's business card reads "Sales Manager". Tony offered me, what I thought was, a good opportunity to become a dealer of their product.

Upon receiving my 1st two choppers there were pait flaws discovered upon inspection. When test riding the 2 to ensure safety of our customers it was discovered that the engine had a very bad limit to which the bike would cut out making it hard to get up to even 35 miles per hour. After the bike was brought back to the shop to discover why, it was found that the bikes have a defective air breather hose, acting as if it weren't getting any fuel - it was actually not getting any air. Upon removing the air breather to test if more air would remedy the issue, it did.

Now we could test the bike at operating speeds....or so we thought. There was some rear tire vibration initially at the lower speeds that we could only get up to with the breather hose problem, now at 40mph the rear wheel was all but bucking the rider off of the seat.

Now, upon inspection of the rear wheel it was immediately discovered that the rear tire has NO TUBE LINER and the inner tube is THE WRONG SIZE causing a knot in the tube thus throwing the tire balance off. For those who are not sure why the "no tube" statement is so important, these are spoked rims - if there are no liners on the rims, the inner tube will rub against the rim and eventually cause a blow-out. Imagine a customer's family member coming to you to let you know you're customer is in the hospital due to a faulty product you sold them. Luckily this bike was fully inspected prior to sales and I was able to avoid this type of scenario.

We're not finished YET folks....

After the proper tube size was ordered and protective "safe" liners were installed, the chopper still has a terrible bouncing effect. The tire was removed and the wheel put on a stationary axle to where it is discovered that the rim is actually bent and that is has also been chiseled on.

I have purchased 3 choppers - ALL THREE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. Coinsidence or faulty, non-quality engineering?

A list of other problems for your consideration:

*One chopper's left handle grip assembly and controls FELL OFF

*Wiring assembly faulty causing no horn operation

*ALL THREE have non-working on/off kill switches

*Odometer is reading in something other than miles

*Only have TWO of THREE able to be titled because I have asked 5+ times for the one title and still haven't received

*Faulty air intake on ALL THREE

*Missing chain roller

*Flaking chrome (on brand new out of the crate)

*2 Defetive front fenders

And after all of this, I'm sure I'm still missing something.

BUYER BEWARE - and be careful.

thanks for all the questions come from our customer. hi-bird chopper is a new product, we need to improve it together with all of our customers. hi-bird promise all the customers who buy the samples from our first production that we will provide all the spare parts and accept payment returning. all these problems that kevin have found out is true, but we already solved all these problems and make the following improvement, 1.handle bar old:welding point of handle bar is too weak to fell off. new:change the format and material of handle bar, make the welding point much stronger than before. 2.cables: old: all the main cables are slim. the connecting point is easy to be disconnected new: change the connecting point and make a full rubber cover on the cables. 3. kill switch old: kill switch doesn't work. new: kill switch work well now. 4.speedometer: old: incorrect speed-counting new: adjust the speedometer. 5.air filter old: air filter is the biggest problem, it's too soft and easy to be pressed by the tank. so there is not enough air in and air out, engine can not work properly. new:change the shape of air filter and make metal bracket inside the airfilter, after several times of testing, the air filter work well now. 6.rear tyre old: inner tube size is not correct , and no liners . new: make the correct size of inner tube and install the safe liners. 7.bolts on rear wheel axle old:the bolts on rear wheel axle is too small, so the sprocket will shake when driving. new: make the size of bolts correct and can fit rear wheel . 8. package: old: metal+carton this package way can not protect the bike well and caused a lot of painting flaw. new: metal+cloth+bubble+carton new package use bubble cover on the tank, it can prevent all the painting from scracth by metal bracket. if you want to see the difference between our new bike and old models, please view our website: www.hbmoto.com once again, hi-bird thanks for kevin's suggestion and we welcome more advice from all our old and new customers.
