I own an HP tx1000 series laptop.  It is a very nice laptop with a matching price tag.  I have been very happy with it since it was purchased.  However, it recently died, much sooner than it should have (it is only 2 years old).

I am an experienced, technical computer user with a technical degree, and I looked into the problem.  This laptop series was manufactured with a design flaw that will cause the laptop to self-destruct under ordinary usage conditions.  The NVidia graphics chip overheats and comes unsoldered (relatively speaking) from the motherboard, rendering the laptop useless.  The design defect will also render other various components unworkable, such as wireless internet, touchpad, biometrics scanner, webcam, and others.

Because of the nature of the design flaw, and the fact that symptoms are manifest during ordinary usage, every tx1000 series laptop will suffer the same fate.  Hewlett-Packard Company refuses to acknowledge the problem, and will charge its customers $400 and up for repairs, and have not issued software updates, advisories, hardware updates and fixes, or recalls for this problem.

Also, the laptop will, under certain conditions, become so hot that it can cause physical harm to its users and can become a hazard in certain environments.
