This is a fair warning to all shopping at this sleazy restocking fee audio store. Granted they have some nice equipment and thought I would have another solid resources for audio online, but that all went wrong on my first try with them.

I ordered a turntable and an accessory for it. My total was $2096.84. I received the table and set it up per the instructions - mind you I have setup 20+ table in the last 2 years for clients and friends. Well this table was either a lemon or something else mechanically off beyond my capabilities to adjust. After writing and calling and talking to HiFi's representatives, we got nowhere but to possibly get another table to try.

I then decided ordering a table was not a great idea online and would stick to a table purchase with a local dealer for obvious reasons. At that point I was made aware for the first time that their return policy included a 20% restocking fee - yes twenty!!! I have not seen something like this in years - many years. I may have paid a restocking fee 10-15 years ago on something that was 5-10% but never more.

All of the sudden their "customer service tone" changed when they sensed my shock - and that tone was "annoyed" and giving me the option to buy another table at the same price or more to avoid the restocking fee. But that was not an option to me at this point - to waste more time experimenting with turntables across states lines.

So my breakdown looked something like this:$2096.84 minus $419.37 restocking!!! and left me with $1,677.47 and no turntable. I was livid and begged for an exception. I run a business and always make exceptions to please a customer and to have them going forward rather to loss them. But they had zero intention.

Then they send me an email explaining that the $419.37 will stay in their system as a credit for one year. BUT the catch is that I would have to spend OVER at-least $419.37 over $2096.84 to be able and use that "what they call a credit". This was only insult to injury.

So shopper beware - these guys run a prifit business on returns. No other competitor has a restocking free - at all - zero fee to return equipment within 30 days. Music Direct and Needle Doctor to name two fantastic companies that treat their customer with respect and are who are extremely helpful. I ended up going back to them and spending 4,600. Thats 4,600 that HiFi Heaven/Hell could have had - but are too worried about their easy profits on screwing new customers.

What comes around goes around. I am writng this to help you all out there so that you do NOT make the same mistake.
