I ordered a 20 yard dumpster to remove about 4000-5000 pounds of debris, 20 yard dumpster is all I needed and it would fit into my driveway. What was delivered was a 30 yard dumpster that had to be put in the street. I did not want the dumpster in the street because the Home Depot representative on the phone looked in the system and could not determine if Staten Island required a permit to place a dumpster in the street.

Once the dumpster was hauled away I received an additional whopping $302.37 worth of charges on my credit card. The waste company stated that I had more than 12000 lbs of material in the dumpster. A small renovation project does not create 6 tons of debris. My contractor approximated 4000-5000 pounds of debris when we ordered the dumpster less than 3 tons.

The actual billing scanned to me by Oak leaf is not from home Depot nor is it from Oak Leaf but by another company called Cooper and yet there is another company on the bill called affordable enterprises.

When I called Home Depot, I was told that maybe someone had illegally dumped into my dumpster. Maybe, however had they delivered a 20 yard dumpster as was requested it would have fit into my property and not out in the street for everyone to access. However I do not believe that someone would have dumped 4-5 tons of garbage in the middle of the night into my dumpster (which was not full) and not have anyone hear them or see them. Second reason they gave me was rain may have made the contents heavier, again Dumpters have a drains and I doubt that as well, 4-5 tons of absorbed water??? on a dumpster with a drain.

My take is that there is no integrity monitoring with the smaller companies that the work is delegated to and the consumer and in hard economic times the consumer is left holding the bag...

Home Depot needs to take a closer look at who they have providing services, there are several reports on ripoff report regarding the dumpster rentals program by Home Depot.
