I received a letter with what look like to be an official bank check ..I searched on line for the bank ..It was indeed an actual bank M & T bank ,and the enclosed check is I think a real check ..The check for 3,980.00 was to help me pay the taxes to receive the grant in the amount of 39,000 ,except the taxes were for 1,950.00 ..They then say that the remainder of the money 37,50.00 is sitting in an escrow account pending claim . They inform me to call 1 289 892 4087 ,and ask for Fred Johnson or Carmen Sloan and to let them know what option I want to chose A except check B dont except ,and pay taxes myself ,or C no thanks and give to Charity in my State ..I call ,but no answer I called back the following day ,A guy answers I ask to speak to these people ..I am told to wait ..The phone does nothing but ring ,and ring ..I hang up ,and call back ,but no one picks up ,then the phone just hangs up by itself .. I remember a few months ago receiving what looked like to be an official Readers Digets sweepstakes entry ,One of the awards was homeowners grant for 39.000.00 the least award was for a digital camera ;so when I received this letter saying I had been selected I of course thought I had won this fablous prize ..The odds of wining the entry said was ,if I can remember was 1 out of 22 million .. I guess it wasn't an actual Readers Digest entry ...but instead a company playing some sick game trying to scam innocent victims like myself .What really gets me is that my mom and me struggle just to get by ..I am disabled on SSI from a severe wreck that actually should have killed me on impact according to the authorities . We really could have used this money ,if it was real .Our roof leaks our floors have been taken up ,and need repairing ..Stove is bad dryer works one day then stops the next Our house is in need of a lot of repairs;so when I received this letter you can imagine how excited I got ,until I had to fiind out it was all a sick hoax ..I am elegible to receive real grant money ,and I thought this was a real grant ..I am outraged at this injustice towards me ,and others like me These people belong in Jail .and shoukd have to pay restitution to all of us who have been their victim This is emotional damage .I don't know if there is anything that can be done about this ,but if I can bring a law suite against these people I will .if there is a law office who would take my case pro bono ,or on a contigency ,if I might have a case ..I googled clase action ,but nothing came up ..I am surprised that there is not a class action suite against these people . Oh ,get this it even said to ask our claims manager how you might can qualify for addtional grants to suit your home improvements needs . De Anna G
