Howard Johnson Clearwater Manager Shane Guests were kicked out due to having pet while reservation was made incl. pet. 3 adults, 2 kids + dog all out! Clearwater, Florida
Due to a burglary/vandalism a tenant was suppose to move in this weekend in one of the rentals we manage we had to relocate them for a few days since all wiring and copper was stolen from the property and with no power and A/C we can't leave them in the house.
Reservations were made through 1-800-446-4656 and clearly stated that it was for 3 adults, 2 kids/minors and 1 dog. We had called other hotels but some don't allow pets and the person at this nu ber stated that the hotel we called for didn't allow pets so i asked about the one in Clearwater and he stated they do allow pets with pet fee. The reservation for this party of 5 + dog was made and the guests went to check in.
I received a call that my credit card and ID was needed and I needed to fill out a form which was all done within 5 min. and emailed back to the hotel.
This morning I received a call from the manager that wouldn't disclose her position and neither her name and stated she needed approval for $ 50 for the dog per night and additional $ 50 cleaning fee since that was stated at the hotel check in desk. I informed her that agreed was this amount all incl. but excl. local taxes that were going to be charged on check out.
She went on and on and stated the guest were in the wrong room and they needed to get a smaller room for pets and that they acually had to move out unless this amount for 4 day woud be added which is a $ 250.- additional fee for just one dog. I stated that she would have to take it up with reservations and their 1800 number since it was all receorded per their own saying and that I asked for 5 people + 1 dog. She ranted and vented on and stated they would be told to leave. I told her that she shoul ask her manager and/or owner to call me that we might be able to solve it. She went on and on and I told her that the media probably wouldn't react very positive to kick a family and dog out while the reservation dep. madean error and why she wouldn't even call them to ask. On my question about what her name is she hung up on me.
I called back after the guests informed they were ordered to leave and was informed that it was actually a manager by the name of Shane who called me and was just as rude towards the guests and argued wth another employee in front of the guests.
In my call back i asked her again to have an owner call me back or manager which she refused and told me to call the 1800 again which I did and filed a complaint. I was told the complaint would be handled before 28th but further the hotel and I needed to solve it!!!
Guests were told again to leave and we made reservations else where and now we will not pay a dime for this unbelievable rude treatment and bad management service.
I hope nobody else will go through this because this family just went through the issue of moving to a house that was burglarized and checked in and took their stuff out and was now told to leave in a rude way. How would that be for their kids to witness and go through....
