Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My fiance an I got a call on March 5, 2004 late at night telling us that we won a free stay at a hotel and all we'd have to do is attend a 90 minute cooking show and they'll cook us a light meal. We said ok, thinking that the show would be about something for our wedding like catering etc. We went to the show in Walnut Creek, CA on March 7, 2004 Sunday. We filled out a brief survey about health and sat dow to watch wedding bloopers, which were pretty funny. Then they put on a tape about their company and the salesperson explained how teflon is bad and reffered to the ABC special. She then cooked us half a chicken breast, carrots and corn, which was good. We were impressed because the chicken was juicy and it took out the fat. We then sat down with one of the salespeople, asked about prices and she said we would have to give a downpayment of $250.00 and my fiance said we couldn't do that so she then offered us to put down $130.00 we said that we don't have that money right now, she explained that it's ok because Barbra, the woman who did the presentation, puts money in for everyone. Then she said someone will call you to confirm the order, just tell them you gave the down because Barbara outs it in. We said yes (BIG MISTAKE!)and it all added up to $1,265.88. Very pricey! The next day, Monday, I researched this company and found this website, I was surprised because they've already been sued in 2 different states! After I saw this, I called my fiance and told him, we decided to cancel our order. We tried calling that same day and they told us to call back at 10-4 EST. So today is Tuesday, we called them back and they told us to call Barbara. They gave us her cell number and hotel number where she's staying. Left a message with the concierge and left a message on her cell phone. I feel like we've been on a merry-go-round because when we call someone, they tell us to call 1 number, then they tell us to call another number. We do and there is no answer and no one is telling us how to cancel our order. Someone please help us, we only have one more day to cancel!

Question it would cost me $15 to get a new trip sent out

#2Consumer Comment

I also ordered a set of pans I couldn't afford, but that was my fault, I should have thought a little harder, but I was wondering if you used the trip. How much was the airfare? Should I even bother sending in the trip stuff? I only get time off during Christmas and Thanksgiving. Can I use my trip then or is there a whole bunch of blackout dates. For anybody that used the 3 day 2 night trip, about how much did it actually cost you for the trip? Did anyone else get a free cruise with their order? I was supposed to get one and it never showed up. I sent a letter with my payment and was called back about it. The representative told me that it would cost me $15 to get a new trip sent out because they had mailed it and the post office screwed up delivering it. If I sent out a payment and it didn't get there because of the post office who would have to pay the late fee? I'm pretty sure I would. So why should I have to pay if they were supposed to send me something? I was just wondering if anyone else had that problem. Thanks.

I went to a show with my now ex-fiancee when I was 17. I have OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), so during the show when they passed around a label from a teflon pan that said scratched or overheated teflon gave off toxic fumes that could kill pet birds, I was freaking out inside. They also told us if we ordered that day we would recieve not just the one, but two "all inclusive" vacations. She went on to explain to all of us southern hicks exactly what all inclusive meant. All meals, drinks, etc, at an exclusive resort of our chosing. We were also told we would recieve a free setting for 4 of stemware, flatware, and china. We felt this was a good deal even though it cost a small fortune. It turned out the vacations were only good for your basic hotels(Red Roof, Ramada, Etc) and to recieve the stay, not ALL INCLUSIVE, you had to book airfare through a specific company, which was I'm sure way overpriced. We ended up not being able to be financed for the entire amount and were called and informed the cost of the "free" flatware, china, and stemware, would be deducted from the balance and then we would be qualified. After the relationship broke off and he stopped paying for the pots, they began calling me, with me 18 and 6 months pregnant, harrassing me. I asked them why if the flatware, etc, was free did it have to be taken off of our order so we could be approved for financing. She told me they were not free at that point. A couple of months ago, I filed a comlaint with the better buissness beaurea through their website, www.bbb.org,and in no time, the company called me and did all that I asked. I asked that my ex-fiancee's credit be cleared and that they send him a letter letting him know it had been done. They wanted to know if there was ANYTHING else they could do for me and I said no and thanked them, but I'm sure I could have gotten at least a partial refund. Good luck to you.

I was about to be ripped-off! free Honeymoon offer ripoff Southern Bridal Registry

#9Consumer Suggestion

Fri, September 03, 2004

I received a call from Royal Prestige on yesterday about a free Honeymoon offer. I was shocked but I did not remember registering with Southern Bridal Registry. I was told that I didn't need to bring any money unless I wanted to purchase something. A little voice in my head told me to research this company on the Internet. I will not be attending the show thanks to the information that was provided on this website.

In response to your comment Nachita, For you to say that people are not responsible enough to judge their own finances is completely unfair.

I understand that you may have had a good business experience with the company which I'm sure many people do or they would have been bankrupt already. For you to say that people are not responsible enough to judge their own finances is completely unfair. As an update with my incident, as I previously stated, Barbara Dunne was the person I dealt with and I was 17- I asked to collection agency for a copy of the contract! The ENTIRE contract was forged- She threw out the original and replaced it with another to which she wrote my age as 18 when I was not- She did a pretty good job forging my signature, but my husbands was done completely wrong!!!! Barbara, if you read these, a POLICE REPORT has been filed. I called the number on the contract and explained the situation and the rep replied "who was it, Barbara?"- So I know I am certainly not the only one. I called again and the rep I got this time stated they have a lot of problems with Barbara and a few other people. I kept her name for my records and it going on two weeks and I have still not heard from the people who are supposed to call me back. I call at least every other day. We'll see when I can actually get a hld of someone who can help me.

Never Had A Problem, most people are having is that they are being sold on something that they can not afford.

When I was 22 yrs old my boyfriend and I got the call from Royal Prestige saying we won a trip. From the beginning they were very upfront with me about my boyfriend needing to be there. When we showed up for the seminar, we were the only ones there. (nobody else showed) So they told us (and I think I was Barbara, if I'm not mistaken) that if we came back that night to the next seminar, she would give us an additional vacation trip. So we did. We ended up buying the $2000 pots and on the day of the seminar I didn't have any money to put down as a down payment, so they said they would waive it. And they did. She also told us that if we purchased something that night we would get an additional trip. From reading the other comments, I see one thing that everybody has failed to mention. The $2000 spent on "just pots and pans" also included 4 place settings of formal china, crystal, and silverware. Now I know that during the presentation they mentioned that the china was "free", if you purchased something, but lets be realistic. I left that night with china, pots and pans, and 3 trips. I've had them 3 yrs, now and I have since upgraded by china set twice. The problem I think most people are having is that they are being sold on something that they can not afford. Salesmen are good at what they do and you can not go around sueing people just because you realize you can't afford something after all. It's like buying a car. You can't buy it and then take it back the next day cause realized you don't make enough money to pay for it. Don't order something if you know you can't afford it.

Man, this site is GREAT--I just got a call yesterday from Royal Prestige and the girl identifed herself as being from Southern Bridal and how I'd won vacation blah blah having to do with my wedding. I just got married this past Saturday and couldn't recall ever registering for any Southern Bridal registry or for any contests. (I planned my wedding in 8 weeks and it was fabulous!!) ANyway--I thought it sounded fishy so, I jumped on the internet ("royal prestige southern bridal") and here I am--- THANKS TO YOU ALL for posing your comments. I will not call them backa nd in fact, the next time they call I may answer and let the solicitor know exactly who she is working for and then I'm sure I'll follow up with a report to my Attorney General. Anyway--I just wanted to thank you guys----I'm sorry you guys went through what you did and I'm glad you spoke up!

Barbara did it AGAIN!!!!

Hello Kendall- I am so sorry to hear that barbara got you too!! If its the same Barbara who talks extremely fast and gives you "The Nanny" vibe with her voice, she did the exact same thing to us. I was only 17 when she changed my age on the contract to 18, which was clearly obvious, and scammed my husband and I into this company. I was married at 17 and received "the call"! I thought, how nice, something to help with this wedding and a trip!! Well, I was scared straight into making an agreement into buying them. My husband were budgeting down to the last penny for our wedding! Barbara said she would give us 130$ that we could send to her in small payments because she understood the costs of weddings! We were psyched that someone would do such a thing! I got to thinking 1300$ for pots and pans!! What was I thinking??!!! I tried to call the next day and cancel the order but of course Barbara had "just stepped out of the office" or " left for the day" or some kind of excuse!! Well our time was ticking and she never called and we could never get a hold of her. I did not use the pots and pans for a few months after we had them and would pay the bill because we were both just building our credit and didn't want to mess it up. Well I sent them back and they came back to me!! Every letter I sent went unanswered and after several months I gave up on "sweet" Barbara and the company!! Three years later, we still have them and now use them although I use another set of pans to make my dinners because the pots are not easy to keep clean! Now it haunts my poor husbands credit report as we just said forget it!! They are NOT worth the money! We still bought a house and two cars with it on his credit report!! Interest is pretty good too! I'm going to call them to see if we can agree on an amount to pay to clear it off! I work in a credit dept and know how this stuff works!! I'll keep you posted and good luck with your Royal Pain in the butt!!!!

It's all a scam, products are junk and way over priced

#14UPDATE EX-employee responds

I worked for Royal Prestige and I know what everyone has gone through. I was calling and telling these newly wed and engaged couples and telling them all about these great gifts they were selected for. Guess what anyone who answers there phone is selected. I went to a show myself and received these great gifts. BUT.. You have to have a credit card to go on the vacation and you have to send money in. All of their products are junk and way over priced. Can the president even afford this stuff? I would take calls from people and that wanted to cancel orders and the boss wouldn't take a call I had to take a message and the messages from a few months ago are still taped to the door. When I called people I wasn't allowed to say any prices, I feel that this was so wrong. I am so sorry to everyone out there that I harrassed. I didn't want to keep calling you but I had to. And to anyone that I decieved Please forgive me.
