To begin where I left off. August 2005-construction finally begins on my home. framers show up one day, then you don't see them for several weeks. when i called steve he told me "if they don't show up on monday" i'll send someone else out. well, nobody showed up that following monday, and it was 2 weeks later before anybody showed up. when i sat in my vehicle so i could watch the progress of my home, i was made to feel very uncomfortable on my own property, because the guys kept looking over at me and saying something to each other then laughing. September 2005--i got a couple of weeks worth of work from framers October 2005--not much done this month either November 2005--still nothing to brag about-at least it's finally beginning to shape up as a house December 2005--they finally finished the frameup, then started on the roof. they had it almost finished and left the roof off over the master bedroom, where of course, you know it snows in December, it snowed inside the house. by the time they came back out the entire floor in the master bedroom was completed saturated with water from the melted snow. of course, all this time calls were made to the office in South Point and either I got no return call from Steve, or he was conveniently out of the office. January 2006--finally things are starting to come together, or so i thought. this month, bobby chapman, came to install the dishwasher and instead of asking me where i wanted it, put it where he thought it should be. i am left handed and would have preferred that the dishwasher be on the left side of the sink, but no, he took it upon himself to put it on the right side, which is where it remains today, because he said he would put it on the left and never came back! the banister had to be fixed on both porches because they were never mounted to the house, and my 5 year old leaned against it and just about fell off the porch. according to steve, it wasn't already fixed because, the framers and siding guys were in a dispute over something that happened in an election at the firehouse where they were both running for an office, so neither one would come out when the other was here. my walk in closet was a crawl in closet, because the hung the door backwards. the bathroom door had an inoperable lock, the pantry was never put in my kitchen because steve said when they moved the door and porch from the back to the side that left no room for a pantry, of course, you know there was no discount off the price of the house. his only recourse was to bring me another cabinet to hang on the wall that didn't match the other cabinets, then had the audacity to ask me if i wanted him to leave it in the center of my kitchen floor in the box or out of the box. of course, after several minutes of discussion about how his tools were stolen and he was unable to install it, i came up with some tools to install it with, and you know how conveniently he came up with his own tools? the wrong size boards were put on the banister of my porches and all had to be replaced by another crew that came out to fix the mistakes made by steve and his crew (Leo and J & R Construction) they are exceptional and if they had been the ones to build my house, i would have been extremely happy. steve and his bunch left my house in a total mess. they were asked to leave the drywall on the porch instead of throwing it out in the yard to get wet, did they do it? no--we are still cleaning up drywall from the yard and it is now October 2006. Then to top it all off, i was in the hospital the end of January 2006 when the house was finished, supposedly. steve came to the hospital for me to sign off on the papers that you are supposed to sign after you do a walk through of the house. i hadn't even seen the house, but yet he wanted me to sign those papers. I didn't sign them either. he had to wait until my husband came home that weekend. I ended up getting out of the hospital that day and stopped to look at the house. the doors were unlocked and i walked in. i had nothing in the house that i was supposed to have. i ended up with a basic kitchen instead of the deluxe, i had a refrigerator, dryer, and dishwasher. there was no stove and no washer. i called steve and he wanted me to call the police and file a police report. i told him several times that i couldn't do that because i don't know if they were in the house to begin with. to me that is the same as filing a false police report. this is on the same day and a couple of hours later than when they were supposed to have been delivered. go figure. this is too convenient. steve also likes to stand and brag about his big fancy house that he has, with the hardwood flooring and all. well, he might have the hardwood flooring, but it is in a trailer made in the 1970's back in the backwoods of Gallipolis. so as far as i'm concerned that makes him plain white trailer trash so he don't care how he destroys the dreams and hopes of other people through the destruction of their homes. I do have one other thing to say, and then that is it. My thumbs up to Leo and J & R Construction for the extra effort they made to make my home at least a little bit more enjoyable for me to live in. They righted all the wrongs that Steve and his incompetent crew made. now i feel as if i have a home instead of a heap of lumber thrown together on a hill. Thanks Leo!!
