John Moore was called to fix leak in front yard. Plumber showed up, looked at meter & saw no obvious spinning that would indicate a leak on my property. Plumber asked to see my water bill & there were no spinks in water usage over 12 months. Plumber then called his company & requested a dig crew. The crew arrived at noon & worked until 6p. Digging & stopping for the plumber to check for leak & digging some more. Ended up with hole in front yard 9-1/2 ft long x 4 ft wide x 3 ft deep. Finally after it had gotten too dark & plumber had worked 6+ hours he said he would have City come out the next morning.
The City guys came & within 5 minutes determined the leak was from City water main connection to my home. City repaired at no charge & backfilled the hole that John Moore created. John Moore then charged me $1000 for digging hole.
An experienced plumber would have stopped digging before the hole was so big & the dig crew had been onsite for so many hours, resulting in a more reasonable charge for service. The leak was a problem that John Moore could not fix since it was not the homeowner's problem but the City's problem. I asked to pay 1/2 but they insisted I pay the entire amount.
John Moore seems to use less experienced workers & it is costly to customers. I complained that they should return 1/2 the money I paid to have them fix the leak & so far I have not heard anything back from them.
While the plumber was here on the 2nd day I asked him to take a look at water heater. It needed to be replaced so I had him do the work. He fell through my ceiling causing extensive damage as well as pulling out the cables to internet & wifi. 2 companies had to come out to repair the damages. Additionally I had John Moore check my credit for the "no interest" promotion. After hearing from the finance people that they approved me for $12k I decided I did not want the credit because it was way more than needed. The guy said no problem, I would not have to have the account. However, John Moore opened the account anyway & after reporting their behavior to GE Capital, a fraud investigation was initiated. The account was shut down. It took 2 days but I believe John Moore's representative stole my identity because new employer, address, etc. were added to my credit profile the same day that John Moore ran the credit review. I have had to work with each of the credit bureaus & placed fraud alerts.
Stay away from them!

The day after my experience was posted on Rip-Off, John Moore Services contacted me to attempt resolution. The company agreed that their plumber used too much time and resources to detect leak and agreed to reimburse me $325 of the $1000 paid. I happily accepted and received the reimbursement yesterday. I appreciate John Moore's response and resolution.
