On 4/1, I called the 814 no. on the pump warehouse website to order a 1 HP A. O. Smith pool pump motor; I had to leave my no. for them to call back. The 814 no. is a Bedford, PA, phone, but the call back was from a guy in Vista, CA. When I described the motor I needed, he said they had it in stock, it would ship from Florida & the price was $169. plus appx. $20 for S&H.

Since I wasn't on the website at the time, I took his word for the price & placed the order, then I went to the site, searched for a motor fitting the description of mine & saw that it should've been $139. I immediately called back, only to once again get a msg. I did leave a msg. requesting a call-back to confirm the price. Never got a return call. Then I tried the other no. on the site, same thing. They NEVER would return my calls.

The motor arrived with only a packing slip showing that it had actually shipped from Charlotte, NC, not FL., & there were no details as to price, S&H, etc. but it lised the very product no. that their website showed for $139, not $169. so I tried calling them again to no avail. I checked my credit card statement online & found their charge for $198.04, clearly more than the $189. he had quoted me & obviously I had been chged the $169.

After checking with UPS to find the shipping chg., I called Mastercard to dispute $30 of the chg., called both no's for Pump Whse, again getting no one, & finding an email address on their site, I sent a msg. that I had disputed the chg. I had a quick reply of one sentence, telling me 'Shipping and handling with tax comes to 59.04 and the tax is registered with the state of North Carolina.Thank you'

NC tax for my purchase (at the correct price) would've been $9.73; UPS chgs. were $14.13, which would've meant that $35.18 was charged for handling!!

I replied to the email asking for an invoice to show price, tax, S&H, but not only did I not get a reply, I NEVER GOT AN INVOICE either. The paperwork for the disputed chg. has already been returned to MC; I fully expect them to deduct a minimum of $30 from the $198.04 originally charged.

I have no quarrel with the motor--it seems fine, but this is possibly the absolute worst company I've ever encountered. Once they get your order, you will never speak to a human again. They won't verify charges, don't send an invoice with the product, & as you can see from the one-sentence email reply, they lie to you as well. I suspect that many, if not all, of their customers may have been overcharged & perhaps never knew that they were.

This kind of business can't be trusted. They have a grand-looking website--full of graphics, etc., but after they get your order, you're done for if you have ANY questions or complaints whatsoever. The ordering system (a guy who seems half-asleep & gives you few if any details, then NEVER returns your calls) is the worst imaginable. In the case of Pump Warehouse (JTE Pump Whse), heed the advice: BUYER BEWARE!!
