Mannkind Afrezza Mannkind refused to pay my medical bills from serious Afrezza side effects from trial Valencia Internet, California
I am a type 1 diabetic and took part voluntarily in a clinical trial for a drug called Afrezza. Afrezza is inhalable mealtime insulin that works like regular basal (injectable) insulin without the needles. About 6 months into using Afrezza three times a day (along with one daily basal injection) my lung area started to feel like there was heartburn in there. My doctor (who recommended the trial because I'm very thin and hate needles) told me it was fine and to check back with him if it got worse. My lungs were on fire so bad one day that I went to the ER. They gave me some tests and in the end some pain killers. I finaly got a hold of my Doctor and he took me off it. The lung burning persisted and when I first got off Afrezza for the first time in 6 months I was very very sick and couldnt hold anything in my stomach for a few days. A week later I was sent a letter from Mannkind Corporation thanking me for my time in the trial and that they were dropping me. I've racked up
$12,000 in medical bills because of this and am so angry I'm on more pills. My lungs are on fire pretty much 24 hours a day. I use a humidifier to ease the pain and pain killers. I have a lawyer and I am suing Mannkind Corporation and my hospital. Mannkind has refused to pay my medical bills and refuses to return my 50 messages I left them. I don't know what the problem is neither do doctors. My life is upside down right now. I hate myself every day for agreeing to participate in the trial and just want to feel normal again.

MannKind Corporation has conducted 50 clinical studies of AFREZZA involving a total of more than 5,000 patients. To date, our clinical trials have indicated that AFREZZA has a favorable safety profile. When report #619644 was posted on ripoffreport.com on July 2, 2010, we searched our database and were unable to find any trial participant that fits the case described in such report. We have verified that we have not been contacted by any former trial participants with persistent health complaints. We can also report that we are not in litigation with any former trial participants. Our view is that the false allegations contained in report #619644 were posted with the intent of harming MannKind Corporation and its shareholders.
The rebuttal posting of July 3, 2010, purportedly from the General Counsel of MannKind, is completely fraudulent. It was not made by David Thomson or anyone authorized by David Thomson or by MannKind Corporation. Our view is that this rebuttal was posted to make the original report appear more credible, thereby increasing the potential harm to MannKind Corporation and its shareholders.
We have raised our concerns about the fraudulent rebuttal posting and about the integrity of the reporting process on ripoffreport.com to the editor of the website. We were told that the postings would only be investigated if MannKind joined Rip-Off Reports Corporate Advocacy Program and paid an unspecified fee. We have elected not to pursue this course of action.
We caution investors in MannKind Corporation not to rely on statements about the company and its investigational products that appear in blogs, chat rooms or other interactive websites that permit users to generate content anonymously or under a pseudonym. Such information may be difficult to verify and statements attributed to company officials may, in fact, have originated elsewhere.
