Maritime Documentation Center Charged three times what USGC does and never delivered the renewal documentation.
8/9/2018: Last year we received their "gee, we look like the Coast Guard" undated "Vessel Renewal Courtesy Notice" letter with our vessel's "official number" so it looked real. Sent in the money and received NOTHING BACK. Called for a week, no answer. Did some searching and found out the guy works out of his tavern. I stopped payment on my check and went to the USCG site and renewed it in 30 seconds at 1/3 their cost.
We got another letter this year so I called today (800.535.8579) to get off their mailing list. Amazingly someone answered. I asked them why they charged three times what the USCG does -- was that because of their wonderful service? He said "of course".
Do not be fooled like we were -- do not waste your money and time on Maritime Documentatoin Center. Why would you do that? We're living in the age of deceit, fraud and greed; don't let your guard down for a second like we did last year. Happy Cruising out there!
