I opened an account with e-hits AKA marketit.com on Jan 17, 2009 on the 30 day free trial offer. I cancelled on Jan. 29, 2009. After a few communications with them, they figured they did not have to Re-fund my payment of $19.95 because I did not supply them with the correct information the first time I made the request, which they were correct. However, when they did recieve the info they needed, they still refused to refund my money.
Below is a copy of what they sent: after you cancel, email us your username, > signup date and cancel date, and your > refund will be issued promptly. (per the > 30-day moneyback guarantee, you are > entitled to a refund if you cancel within > the first month of your membership.)
In the meantime (not hearing anything from them for 5 days) I opened a dipute with PayPal. Below is what E-hits wrote back to me. If you will close the dispute now, then we will issue the refund immediately. Otherwise, we'll have to fight the dispute thru Paypal (to keep our record clean, especially from an unsubstantiated dispute such as this one) and it will likely go in our favor--and then regretably it will show as a negative on your Paypal history. (if you're not an active merchant doing lots of transactions, then you probably don't care about negatives)
In response, I wrote: I will close this dispute when my paypal account is credited the $19.95. On Feb 4, you received the info you needed to re-emberse my paypal acct. I waited until feb 9th. to file the dispute (5days) as it appeared you were ignoring my request. This is my fault? Interesting. Its funny how you didn't waste any time taking my money, but refunding it is another story....
