I had Mediacom for nearly 3 years, never had a problem with service or billing or anything at all. I recently sold my home and bought a new home in an area Mediacom did not service, I had to cancel my service return my equipment and may and ETF. I paid the fee and requested prepaid boxes to return my equipment.

 In the process of moving I found an additional cable box and internet modem in my shed, these were left by the previous owner I assume. As a good person I asked Mediacom if they wanted them as well, they said yes and in stead of sending me 2 boxes they sent me 4 boxes. I packed up MY cable box and the random cable box seperately and pack MY internet modem and the random one together because they were small enough to fit in seperate boxes. I dropped them off at UPS and tracked them all the way to the warehouse to see them get signed for. Thought all was grand until I get a notice from collections for a fee on the internet modem. I began calling Mediacom in May and they NEVER could get me any info, always saying they were looking into the matter and someone would call me back. No one EVER called me back so I contunied calling and calling and calling and everytime it was the same thing, the rep had no idea what was going on and would tell me someone would call me back. No one EVER called. I finally got an answer from a rep just a few weeks ago she stated they had not received one of the internet modems, I told them ONE of them was not mine, they said oh well and it was my responsibility to return them both, BULL, my responsibility was only to one modem. I asked to speak with a supervisor and convieniently ALL of them were on "lunch". A very rude guy called me later in the day to tell me I needed to file a complaint with UPS to retrieve the missing modem, I advised him I spoke with UPS and because It was not my account that I shipped on I could not file a claim that Mediacom would have to since they were prepaid labels. Mediacom refuses to file the claim.

 I shouldnt even have to file the claim, I onyl had one modem and cable box to my name, but now they are trying to ding me for being a good customer and returning a box and modem left by some crappy customer. I have all the tracking numbers, including the tracking number of the 4th box that i never sent since I put two of the modems in one box, all show signed for with no sign of damage and Mediacom refuses to do anything, they are putting a fee that doesnt even belong to me on my credit report because they are too lazy and ignorant to do their jobs.
