The person stating this is not professional. She didn't even state her "real" name. I'm sorry you feel and felt like that. I hope you have a better experience somewhere else. I hope you treat the new studio owner with more respect than you showed the owner and her staff.
I hope this rebuttle gets posted. MDW was a great studio. It has now closed and has been for 3 years.
You seem to want to overlook all of the good that the studio provided for students and parents for many many years.
You didn't get what YOU wanted...so this is how you attacked someone who has gone well over and beyond what a teacher should have.
Maybe the person that still owes her $8000.00 should be attacked instead. OR how about all the people that got DEALS - when they couldn't afford paying full price? OR how about the people who didn't pay for their costumes and the studio covered the loss?
Yeah...the owner was real mean?
MDW - small studio. And you know what....BIG companies have lost payments too. And in the dance world - schedules change all the time! You just didn't get what YOU wanted ...and decided to take this coward move and post unfair accusations about someone who does and did not deserve this.
Maybe she did up set some people....BUT you know what...a lot of the parents were hard to deal with. Some of them were down right ignorant and rude.
For years...the Owner provided great training for dancers.
You seem to also over look the fact that she is a daughter, mother, sister and wife of someone. How would you feel if someone attacked YOU like this? We're not all perfect! To bad - you have no class and did not approach this in a more mature manner.

I find it upsetting that people are immature enough to write this stuff on the internet.
Are you forgetting that fact that - the owner of this company has a family? children? husband? No wonder she feels the need to defend such rude and quite ignorant comments.
Are you forgetting about all the time she has spent with the kids? The hours she gave up with her family to get your kid ready for dance competitions? The stress? The pressure? Then - along comes parents like you and say such childish comments. I take it that you didn't get you way either!
Many of her students are hurt and upset by these comments as well. Her daughter is irrate that people like you can even say such mean things. On another note...
Do YOU not take credit for your hard work?
Do you not take pride in your hard work?
It must be horrible for someone to take credit for all of the choreography awards that she has won? It also must be pretty selfish for someone to take pride in the hard work her kids have put into the dances.
Are you jealous?
I really hope that the owner of the OLD company - that is NO LONGER running - feels or thinks that we all feel or have ever felt that way about her. She was amazing. So many kids were heartbroken over her leaving. Then - someone LIKE YOU has the never to say something like that!
The owner is beyond PROUD of all of her dancers. She has NEVER said - they are nothing without her. That is just crap. And - every competition that we attended people couldn't wait to see what she came up with..because she was and still is an amazing choreographer!
Get over yourself! Tell the new studio to move on. The owner knows that the kids are thriving and doing amazing with the new atristic director. As for the the president of the new company - you GOT SUCKED in...beware.
Next time - state your name! Take responsibility for your words...and let the owner confront you...lets see how brave you are then.
As for myself - I'm gald my daughter danced there. She is thriving on a great dance career and owes a lot to the owner. She loved her and misses her.
So - we all do not feel this way about MDW!

I can not believe someone has the nerve to print something so cruel and untrue about someone especially since that person has not taught their child/children for at least a year now. Someone is just being very childish and hurtful and attacking the former owner of MDW personally and not sure what they are hoping to gain from this...
My child danced with MDW for 9yrs and was heart broken when they found out that the studio owner was leaving and MDW was closing. My child grew so much in so many ways with MDW in the years attending there. My child thrived with every push they were given by the studio owner. As for hollering at competition/backstage I'm sure I would have heard about it if indeed it ever had happen. Just another lie from someone who is out to hurt this former studio owner.
I find it unbelieveable that someone would say that the studio wasn't invited back to competitions because of the owner, b/c we went to the same competitions each year unless the children had asked to try other competitions. I can also tell you everyone was excited about seeing MDW at competition and also scared. They loved the creativity of the owner of MDW and also feared that MDW would clean house in all the categories.
I know that this former studio owner only wishes the best of her past students. Many of her former students have had great sucesses in the dance world and the studio owner is very proud of them and only ever wished everyone great success in life and dance and encourages all to continue to dance.
It takes a great teacher to make an even greater dancer..........
And our children had that great creative teacher at this studio and are very sad that she has left.

To the person that decided to not sign their name:
It's once again really sad to see such harsh and unfair comments posted.
I'm not going to get into a game with you over this....
But your comments are extreme and untrue.
I have never yelled at a student backstage, not once were we ever NOT invited to a dance competition and spectical of myself...really? How would you know any of ths if you wern't allowed back stage?
As for your ignorant comments about belittling my students and telling them they are nothing without me is bold face lie - and just down right rude.
I am thrilled to see that the sudents are doing so well and that they have continued dancing - they are in good hands.
Good luck in your child's dance career. I hope the best for them.
Sucked in for way too long

My children danced at this studio for a number of years. Everything in the rip off report is true, and more!
Studio owner practiced unethical business behaviour, overcharged for costumes that were never produced. Often times there was no heat in the building because she couldn't even pay the heat bill.
Her conduct in front of her students was appauling, often yelling at students back stage during competitions, creating an embarassing spectacle of herself and the studios image. We were often not invited back to certain competitions because of the studio owner's behaviour, to a point where now, when people ask us where we used to dance, we are laughed at because every studio owner in Calgary, their students, and the students' parents know of our owners bad reputation.
Even today, with the studio under a thriving new ownership, and this previous owner out of the picture (and out of the country), she still finds ways to belittle the students she once taught, telling them their nothing without her, that they will never amount to anything without her, that every success and award they win from here on out will in most ways be attributed to the "fine quality training" they recieved from her, and not because of the students own dedication to dance and hard work. She refuses to rejoice in any success that is not directly attributed to her. This is not the kind of teacher any dancer deserves, a dance teacher should be supportive and encourage growth for the sake of dance and the dancers passion. She cares more about herself than she does her students.
We are thankful to have finally seen the light, and have moved on to quality training at reputable studios.

This report is really about a parent that didn't get their own way.
Their child wasn't the center of attention - so they got up set.
They also didn't even sign their real name.
This parent also had MDW's parent foundation upset by these childish and rude comments.
Its hurtful and sad that the internet and ripoff report can post this garbage on the internet without people knowing about it and without finding out both sides of the story first.
Poeple that read these reports...I really hope that you don't take them at face value. Contact the studios...talk to the owners and find out for yourself. If your not happy - just leave.
Michele's DanceWorks is now closed. After 15 years - it was time to take dancers and careers to another level.
