Complaint Review: Moulding Master of California - Concord California

 My home was burglarized by Mr. Benda and/or his employee (s) on July 20. 2015.  The final dollar amount of the things taken appear to be around $6000.

I hired a licensed contractor (Mr. Benda) who had a bond posted with the Contractors Licensing Board. Unfortunately, Mr. Benda brought in "workers" who appeared not even to have spoken with him prior to being brought by him into my home.  I overheard a conversation Mr. Benda had with one of the "workers" while they were in my home and the "worker" asked what Mr. Benda paid per hour. Mr. Benda clearly had never spoken with this man before.  Mr. Benda went on to tell the man that he should bring his lunch every day, be "nice" to the customers and bring his tools every day.  At this point, I suspected that this "worker" or several of the "workers" were picked up on the street and had not been property screened prior to being brought into my home by Mr. Benda.  This "worker" who asked what he would be paid, was the individual who seemed to spend most of his time in my kitchen which is where many of the items that were stolen were taken from. 

Mr. Benda has been very hostile since I informed him that I had been burglarized while he and his workers where in my home.  Mr. Benda has refused to provide me with his liability insurance information.  Mr. Benda has also tried to delay providing information about the "workers" to the police.  When I initially called Mr. Benda and left a message that I had items missing, he never bothered to call me back.  While I finally reached him after leaving several messages, he said that he was going on vacation and did not have time to provide the information on the identities of the "workers" to the police.  When I asked Mr. Benda where the "workers" were, he told me they were on another "job".  I am afraid others may suffer the same fate as I have with these "workers" put into their homes by Mr. Mark Benda.  At this point, the police have told me not to have further contact with him as this thing "heats up". 

 When I contacted the Contractors State Licensing Board I was told Mr. Benda should not have workers as he has no Workers Compensation Insurance.  I then contacted the Bonding Company he has on record with the Contactors State Licensing Board and was told by the Bonding Company that they cover only work quality and not damage or theft. 

 Most of my family has passed away at this point in my life and I had only memories and a few precious items to remember them by.  I had felt entrusted with these family member's most precious possessions and now many of them are lost forever thanks to Mr. Benda and his crew.  My Grandmother's silver candlestick holders that sat on the table at every Thanksgiving and Christmas meal, my picture frames with a photo of myself at 19 years old and that of a beloved pet, my Aunt's coin collection that she and my Uncle saved up over a lifetime, things that I cry every day about losing.  I have lost things I grew up with and at this point, I am faced with the nightmare of not only losing things that had been in my family for generations, but also with having to deal with a person (contractor) who was trusted and now appears to have been either complacent to the theft or possibly even part of organizing the theft.  I have a $2000 deductable on my home insurance and also face a possible increase in my insurance rate when Mr. Benda should have stepped up and provided his insurance to cover this loss which he is clearly responsible for.
