I hired King Van Lines to help with my move. After giving an accurate description of my belongings (what I had and how much it all weighed), I was quoted $1200 to move my 1 bedroom apartment from Houston, TX to Sunrise, FL and was guaranteed by Valerie (employee) that my stuff would arrive March 10. I was told they would weigh the truck before and after my items were in there and that is how they would get the price. A

fter the movers put all my items in their truck, they said the amount had tripled to $3600 and to write a check to Moving Star California (when asked why the name changed, I was told they are going through the process to change their name). The amount tripled.

The movers then told me they get the cost by measuring cubic feet. Had I known it was by cubic feet, I would have given a better description of how many boxes, etc, but since I was told price was contingent on weight, I estimated the weight, not how many boxes.

When I attempted to contact Valerie at King Van Lines, as the movers waited, she was not in the office. I was told by King Van Lines to write a check and Valerie would get back with me with the weight and refund me according to the weight. So, I paid the movers.

Valerie NEVER got back to me. I was supposed to receive a call 24 hours prior to the delivery time so they could give me an accurate time slot they would be arriving, but never heard, so I gave them a call on March 9. I was then told that my belongings were sitting in a storage unit in Dallas, TX and would not be arriving until an unknown later date. I asked to speak to Valerie, again, since she never got back to me, and she was "on vacation."

Throughout the next few days, I spoke with a number of different people and finally on Thursday, March 16 was told I should expect my items between the 21 and 23. I stressed the importance of my delivery date being March 10 and was GUARANTEED them to arrive March 10, which is the reason I went with King Van Lines/Moving Star. It was not until March 18 at 1:30 AM that my belongings arrived.

The personnel at King Van Lines/Moving Star avoided my father and me on a number of occasions. No one ever called us back. I never heard the weight of the trucks with and without my items (which is how I agreed to pay). I got a cashier's check to give the movers the remaining balance, as Abby (office manager) was supposed to get back to me with the weight, and reimburse me, once again. She also said that in the computer, it says that I WAS guaranteed my items to arrive on March 10. I still have not heard from her.

I definitely had a verbal agreement with both Valerie and Abby about the guaranteed delivery date. I also had a verbal agreement that the cost of my move was based upon the weight of my articles, not cubic feet. Please feel free to contact me. This was the worst experience and I am determined to stop this company from scamming anyone else.
