They provided the worst moving experience I have ever had. They offered what seemed to be a reasonable price up-front to move my belongings. They were also very helpful in the beginning, but once they had my stuff on the truck it was another story. The price of my move nearly doubled and blamed me for underestimating, even though I had given them details I still had from my last movers less then a year before.

Also, after getting my things, I seemed to be the only one making contact. I had to call to make sure my stuff was being delivered when expected. They tried to get me to have my things delivered early even though I told them it could not be before a certain date. Then when they delivered it was a day later then I was promised and they showed up at 6 pm to unload after I had to call them. They didn't have a ramp to unload and treated my belongings like they were taking trash off the truck. Several pieces of my future was damaged or broken, I had one box completely empty of its contents, and glass(they had packed for me) shattered. The delivery men barely spoke English and expected me to unwrap the furniture. They were upset with me because I didn't have a knife or boxcutter to cut the tape to upwrap the furniture. They also didn't set my bed back up, etc even though I was promised in the beginning this would be done.

In the end, the delivery man tried to rush me and get me to sign the delivery sheets without going over the list and writing down the damage. Luckily, I had some witnesses to all of this and a camera to take photos and listed all the damage. However, I can already tell its going to be a major headache to get compensation for all my damage. I would recommend this company be avoided at all costs.

Wrote that insurance co. to no avail

I got that insurance information from the other person who had complained about Moving Star, but sadly to no avail. I wrote them multiple times and included correspondence I had sent the claims agency and copies of what the claims agency sent me. After nearly two months of not responding to my requests, another company (I can only assume is part of American Home Assurance) sent a letter saying they couldn't find my claim, etc. Every avenue seems to lead to a dead end so far.

Moving Star's Claims process is a joke!

Moving Star is flat out lying that I haven't filed a claim. I was directed to a Claims Agent and filed with them. After the claim was filed, the claims agent has almost completely ignored my complaints. I can't reach anyone at the claims agency by phone. When I do call, I get an automated message and there is no option to leave my own message to get a return call. I couldn't even leave a message to update my contact information. I've sent multiple letters and only get unreasonable offers of compensation in return. I have had to contact a lawyer in order to hopefully get the name of Moving Star's insurance company so I can file a formal claim with them. The claims agency is nothing more then a stale tactic and obviously has very dubious practices since they make it impossible to speak with anyone directly. Also...After going through everything after the move, I found more stuff missing!

We do apologize for the generic response. However after researching the following complaint we have found that the consumer has not even attempted to file a complaint/claim with the correct department within our company. They have not given Moving Star California the opportunity to look in to the situation before filing a complaint on this website. Commonly customers are looking to speak with the relocation consultant and not the operations manager. Unfortunately the relocation consultant no longer has access to the job once it has been picked up. They have no control over any extra charges due to a customer having more than what's on the inventory list or damage done from the move. Moving Star California prides its self on excellent customer service and would like to resolve all misunderstanding or mishaps as soon as possible, contacting the correct person is important to resolving any situation. Often and frequently a customer wants faster results than what is possible, we do have a process that is necessary, it not only protects the company; it protects the customer. We do apologize for any and all misunderstandings and would like to resolve all matters of adversity, please call us and ask to speak to the operations manager. We have over 30 successful moves each month with satisfied customers. Customer service does not stop here.
