Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My dealing began with NACS or National Accreditation for Colleges and Schools. I was seeking there accreditation services for our small dentistry school. Because they were in state and offered accreditation at a lower cost (around 7,000) I thought I would get some info about them.

I dealt with Orlando Dumas the CEO of NACS he told me that they were recognized by the Department of Education and that I would be able to apple for Title IV funding after receiving his accreditation. I paid for the initial application fee, virtua accreditation workshop, accreditation fee, and other miscellaneous costs to the tune of around 5,000.

Something told me that there might be something wrong with NACS as they all used there personal email accounts for the business and never called me from there office phone. Caller ID always came as somebody else. But being from the same state and relatively close I thought that it would be fine.

I decided just encase to call the Department of Education and to my surprise and horror not only are they not recognized they didn't even have an application filed. This means that even if I went through with there accreditation I would not be able to apply for Title IV which was the whole reason for applying.

I talked to Dumas and demanded a full refund be given. He led me to believe that they were accredited and clearly they have not even started the process. After a long discussion he told me that he would consult the "Board of Governors" about my refund request and that I would probably be entitle to a refund.

A week went by and I didn't here anything about the refund status. I started calling 2-3 times a day and writing many emails. Finally after a month Dumas called me said that I would be entitle to a partial refund of $3000 and that I should receive the check by mail within a week or so. At this point I willing to write off the other $2000 as an expensive lesson. Not trusting him I told him to send me something in writing about the refund so I have a record of the refund.

Fast forward a month and I never got the refund in writing that "would be no problem" and the check "in the mail" never same. Dumas no longer takes my calls or returns any messages . I now realize that I have been scammed and most likely just throw away $5000 dollars. I spoke with some attorneys and because very little was done in writing I don't have a very good chance at suing for my money.

I looked that their Better Business Bureau account and they already have 3 claims that went unresolved so there is probably very little I can do. I just hope that people with stop funding this con artist and that he will go out of business.

I had a run in with this company and came close to paying for thier accreditation. Thankfully, I had second thoughts. It now appears that these frauds went bankrupt and are no longer around. Dr.Dumas of Atlanta was truly a scam artist. I feel bad for all the small schools that he conned into thinking that he was actually going to get recognized by the Department of Education, what a joke.

Good Day All,

It has been brought to our attention that someone has posted this false complaint regarding NACS.  My name is Dr. Dumas, and I am the Executive Director of the National Accreditation for Colleges and Schools.  I will take the time to address each lie that has been listed within this bogus complaint.

It is unfortunate that anyone can post whatever they like on this site without any proof, but we have absolutely nothing to hide.  We also would like to invite anyone who has any questions to feel free to contact our office at 678-401-5595.  For the individual that is spreading these lies, we would be more than happy to see you in the Superior State Court of GA.  I also believe that the 2 complaints on this website were written by the same person.

Within the first paragraph of this lie, it states that they are a dental school located within the State of GA.  NACS has only had one dental school to ever apply within the state of GA, and that institution is still an accredited member of our organization for over 2 years.

The second lie within the second paragraph makes the claim that I stated that we are recognized by the US Dept. of Ed.  I have never at any time made such a statement.  If you visit our website (nacs-edu.org), it clearly states that we are not recognized by the US Dept. of Ed.  I personally believe that you would have to be extremely irresponsible to believe such a statement, because it is very easy to prove or disprove.  The only thing anyone would have to do is visit the USDOE website to look for the agencys name on their approved list.  This person also stated that they decided to call the USDOE after spending over $5,000.  This makes no sense.  I believe that anyone with practical business sense would think to contact the USDOE prior to spending such a large amount of money, if this was their concern.

Within the fourth paragraph this person states another lie.  They stated that NACS never filed an application with the USDOE.  This really sheds a great deal of light on how misinformed this person is with the process of an Agency becoming recognized by the USDOE.  NACS had filed its application and it was returned due to findings.  This is a normal and typical thing that occurs with new Agencies seeking recognition.  NACS had a meeting with the USDOE on 12/13/11 to discuss these findings.  We have forwarded specific items that were requested from us.  Now NACS is waiting for its portal to be reopened, so that we can re-file our application.  NACS is working very hard to be placed on the December 2012 Agenda.

In paragraph five, they state another lie.  This person says that I stated that we will give him a refund.

The NACS refund policy is very clear within our handbook, and on our application.  There are no refunds ever given on anyones application.  The only way anyone would ever get a refund for their accreditation fees, dues, etc., would be if the Agency rejected their application.  For this person to state anything else is completely false.  In regard to the so called Board of Governors, I have absolutely no clue what they are referring too.

Paragraph six is a complete lie.  Each and every statement within it is completely false.  Nothing they stated ever happened.

In paragraph seven, they state that I would never take their calls.  I am stating here and now, that I would love to take their calls or speak with anyone else who wishes to contact us with any questions (678-401-5595).

In paragraph eight, they refer to our BBB (Better Business Bureau) report, and still chose to tell lies.  As I stated earlier, these things are so easy to prove or disprove.  In 4 years of NACS doing business, it has an A rating.  The following quote is directly from the BBB regarding the 3 complaints:

BBB found business made good faith effort to resolve complaint but customer not satisfied with business response (3 complaints)

I encourage anyone to visit the BBB website to verify this information.  You will see that these were false statements.  NACS was able to work with the BBB to try to resolve these issues, and the BBB decided that we made a good faith effort.

In closing, I would like to say that I really hope that anyone seriously considering going through the

accreditation process will not rely on such incorrect information to make their decision.  I would like to challenge you to get correct information regarding such an important decision for your company.  Once again, I would like to invite you to visit our website (nacs-edu.org), or contact me directly (678-401-5595).  We have absolutely nothing to hide and we pride ourselves on our integrity and customer service.

You didn't have the common sense to pull this bogus "accrediting agency" up on the web before doing all of this ???  In under 3 minutes' time you would have had all of the info you needed on them.

And, I'm wondering about your education, anyway.  For a college graduate, your spelling is atrocious. Try using THEIR instead of THERE, for example.
