I was recommended to this site for some side jobs by a friend in Houston, TX. I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and travel back and forth to Houston quite a bit. It seemed legit and the agent set me up with an account and the necessary forms for contracting my services quite promptly. I soon got a DBA and IRS paperwork in order and started doing jobs repairing domestic appliances & electronics. I started around the end of August 2009 and continued thru end of October 2009. I have probably done around 8 jobs totalling around $400+.
I was told I would get paid around the 15th of each month, which was ok by me being that the jobs would accumulate and I figured it would compensate for my gas money and investments in tools and misc items. Well, immediately the issues started with my paperwork and them not having the 1st job I did on file. I hate it when old sayings smack you in the face, and this was no exception to the phrase "If it's too good to be true...". They lasted a whole 2 months to send me my 1st check and they were short well over $200. The job that they did pay me for was short $100. I had kept contact with them before this payment to make sure they had my job count & payment owed accurate. They kept giving me the runaround, but yet they kept calling me to work some jobs in the mean time.
I finally heard from my friend in Houston and found that he too was being given the same runaround and when they sent him his check, it wasn't even signed! To this point they owe him over $1200! I also got a coworker of mine into the program and they owe him over $500.
This business is a sham, and they should be ashamed of taking advantage of not only the technicians working on the appliances but also of the consumers who are stuck with their appliances in nonworking order and waiting months for some gullible tech to go out there and fix their stuff for free.
I faxed over the invoices signed by the customers on all my jobs just like they asked. I even had to resend some of them multiple times. The reps were rude and gave me the runaround. They claimed to have fired their payment dpt reps various times during my contact sessions. It got ridiculous and I guess they figure people don't have the money, time, or gall to stand up to them and do something about this scam.
I am filing a complaint with the BBB, the FTC, and I am personally going to contact the manufacturers of all the brands that these people service and let them know how this company is giving their products a bad name.
If anyone has taken legal action, can you please advise me as to what was the outcome of it, and maybe you could also recommend the lawyer that represented you. If anyone is planning to take legal action let me know. I have at least 2 other people who would more than gladly participate in any lawsuit. Contact me at eight three two two three one nine one zero six.
