I worked for a farmer and he was banking at national city and he checks are from there so i went there to cash the check and the lady told me it would be 10 dollars if i didn't start checking account with them so i said alright and i filled out a few papers (im only 17) well i get a debt and the lady told me once i run out of money it will stop working so one day i got gas then to get oil and it wouldnt work so i figured i was out of money so i stopped using it till i got paid 2 weeks later i went to the bank and they said i was 178 in debt i was like wow you told me i couldnt go over they said i went over 9 dollars getting gas then over daft fees were like 30 a day i told them to cancel my card and i would pay as soon i could they told me THEY WOULDNT BILL ME ANYMORE THAN 178 ...well couple weeks later i get a letter in the mail im 300 in debt i was like holy crap they said i could take my time paying this bill and im im like 120 more in debt what the heck ...i called the bank yesterday which the date was 8/8/08 and asked how old do you have to be to start a checking account the lady answered back 18 or a parent co sign ....i was like lady im 17 and was in there and signed up now im 300 in debt whats the deal and she was like uhhhh anything else i can help you with sir and i was like yeah your screwing me ....somebody please tell me theres something i can do...

legal guardian contact them to close the account and get your monies. NORMALLY, a minor cannot entire into a contract and your agreement with the bank would be void. Someone needs to remind them that a banking agreement with a minor is VOID. They should have required you to have your parent/legal guardian sign on to your account when you opened it. There is an exception to this. IF you have been declared an emancipated minor by any court of jursidiction, you're probably stuck with the fees.
