In 2004 recieved notification of outstanding funds payable to me by FHA mortgage with lengthy procedures on how to obtain it thru goverment which I thought they would do. Without reading microscopic print at bottom signed paper. Found out later that they do nothing but send you a paper binding you to an agreement to pay them after you go thru all goverment paperwork to get the funds. Also found out the Nationwide Guarantee and Trust researches to find out that the goverment has a list of individuals which they are preparing to send out the refund paperwork to. Nationwide then gets the list and sends out their money grab letter just prior to the goverment sending out their notifications, beating them to the mailbox. In short, regardless of their tactics I wanted no problems on my credit report therefore paid them (fortunaltely with a check). They then turned around and sold the debt to a collection agency. I spent countless hours on the phone and vacation time dealing with those wolves providing faxes and copies of bank statments and check copy. Once again they have reared their ugly head and sold to Fidelty collections and now again appear on my credit report. Once again I am having to go back into my archives of Chase Bank and prove my payment. How in the world can we stop these people from accessing our credit reports? Here it is 6 years later and Equifax has once again added them without questioning it. *****Does anyone know of a Class Action Lawsuuit I can join?
