New Age Air ripoff scam to sell whole new heating system especially when not at all needed Collegeville Pennsylvania
I had just returned from vacation and my heating was not working. I called several companies, but New Age Air said they would send someone right over, which they did. A young man came over and changed the electrode from the cumbustion chamber of my 35 year old oil boiler. He told me the reason it was not firing was because the points were no longer sharp. The heat fired up for about 5 hours before going out again, so I placed another call to them.
They came out the next morning, but this time the young man brought another guy with him, Jason. This guy proceeded to lie to my face that he saw flames through an opening that did not exist. He also claimed the system needed cleaning out and he could do it for the small price of $981.00.
Now, I had just moved in in Dec and the system had been cleaned by the prior owner. But of course he recommended that I invest in a whole new system for $3900.00. He used the tactic that he was going out of town and that a decision had to be made. There was no way he could fire it up because since he saw the mysterious flames, the system could combust. What was a woman, all by herself to do?!!
Long story, short I had another guy come in. He fixed it up properly and advised that I probably was being ripped off. He told me that the electrode story was BS and that it would never cost that much to clean a heating system unless there were unusual circumstances.I called Jason back and he did not want to even defend himself, he just deferred to me and hung up.
I am angry that this man used his scare tactics and the fact that I'm a female to attempt to sell this system to me.
