i filled out an online application with Lending Tree one evening towards the end of August, 2008. I was then given a list of contact but starting at 7:30 a.m. the next day, I have 12 or 14 individuals who wanted to help me with a loan. i picked one and so we started.

i sent all the pertinent information required to get the ball rolling at an expense of $38 to fax. the individuals who was starting this loan process kept dragging his heels. finally an appraisal of my house was made on 9/22/08 at a cost to me of $350.00. i needed the loan because i needed a new roof and other things improved on my house. i was told after the appraisal that three minor repairs needing fixing and so the next day i had them fixed.

then all of a sudden before i could get an FHA loan i was to put the new roof on first and get paid back when the loan was closed. i put on the new roof borrowing money from my sick fiancee and other family and friends on 11/12 and sent the paid receipt to NewMarket as requested and they acknowledge receiving the receipt on 11/14 (the receipt was faxed on 11/12).

since then, i have been ignored by everyone including the co founder of the company that promised to call on 12/29. well here it is January 1st. i think i was probably going to be declined and now i have put out money with the promises of being paid back by this loan. i have all my emails with it in writing stating this fact.

i am almost 60 and widowed and would have found an alternative by patching my roof and saving up the money for a new roof if not for the promise of the loan going through by the first contact, the second contact and then the ball was somehow dropped. if the company founder doesn't keep his/her word then who does?

at this point i would like my money back for the appraisal $350 and another $50 for the appraiser to come out and take a pic of the new roof and send it to Newmarket Financial.

I should have done some investigating before writing this complaint regarding my loan process. I know now is a very difficult time to apply for a loan even if you have excellent credit but it's also extremely hard for the loan companies who want to continue doing business and making it possible for people to have the extra dollars to make their lives better and more productive. Yes it seems like I have been in this loan process for quite a while but the days of a home mortgage or finance taking 30 days is not a reality. Loan companies are having to dot their "i's" and cross their "t's" several times over in order to help their clients. If I felt stressed, I'm sure the loan companies do too! After all they are people like you and me. Trying to earn a decent living for themselves and their families. I want to apologize to Mr. Couch and NewMarket Financial for placing this complaint. Even if I did not get the loan, it was not appropriate. I'm a southern lady and I should have been more gracious and understanding. Mr. Couch, President of NewMarket Financial has been working for two days to process my loan and get it finished. I am very appreciative of all of his efforts and feel that he is genuinely sincere. Hopefully maybe I can help someone who is in a similiar situation and before they file their complaint can go one step further and talk to a superior in the company and get the proper information.
