I bought a truck which was advertised on Truck Trader .com in the beginning of May 2009. I bought the truck on May 5th and flu down to Houston June 2nd to get it. The Guy Don Diamond 832-640-6722 I worked with on this at the NU 2 U auto sales ( also Texascashcars.com ) told me they had the transmission rebuilt and asked me if I would like a major tune up done to it. He told me that this truck drove really nice and the interior was very nice and clean. Dons partner is

He did not tell me the dash was total crap. I said yes about the tune up. Well when I got there, i asked for a receipt for the transmission job and all I got was a hand written work order with the Juan Transmission name and address on it with a total cost for a rebuild and tune up of $950.00. I figured there would be some other info.

Driving home to Minnesota 300 miles from Houston the truck shifted to 2nd going up a hill and then shifted to nothing at 3800 RPM. Hmmmmm I called and was told it may just be an adjustment, mmmm. Okay I should have turned around and went back. I stopped for the night and the next morning made it 80-100 miles and the truck died. Had to have it towed to a Dodge Dealer called Countryside Motors in Wellington Kansas. The Dealer found out it was the fuel pump. You can look up the rip off report for this company also. They priced gouged me for the Fuel pump cost. After this high dollar cost I got back on the road. Made it home.

I Took the truck to 3 different tranny shops. They said change the fluid due to it may be causing the tranny to shift wrong. So I did at the $115.00 cost and that did not fix the issue. So I dropped it off at a Transmission shop and gave the shop the owners name of the used car dealer (Jerry Rankin 281-770-8824 ). Call him and tell him youre happy not to do business with him. Good old Jerry said I fell for ya and will work with you on the tranny issue.

After 3 weeks I found out Jerry was only going to pay for 2-300 toward a minor fix. The tranny had a 6000 mile warranty and Jerry could have had got his original cost back. So after a month of screwing around I got the truck back and and found out the transmission job done in Texas was a major screw job ( one of those 30 day jobs ). They tried a temp fix by sanding the 3rd gear drum smooth. It looks like worn out brake rotor. Now after I paid for the tranny job with there little donation toward it of $300 and it costing me a lot more. The thing shifts really nice. I now found out the Catalytic Converter is causing 6lbs of back pressure in stead of 1lb and this caused the truck to only get 9-10 miles per gallon and not pull my boat with trailed past 60 mph. Go figure this 3-$400.00 cost to get replacement converter. This caused the engine to work like a race horse just to move at 60.
The major tune up which was to have been done was a also a screw job. I found out they did not do a major tune up. The spark plug wires were from 1999 when the truck was built. So i had to replace them.

So we have $400 for new converter, extra $600 for tranny rebuild, $115.00 for change of fluid, $300.00 for new Dash, $49.00 for new Wires, and $700.00 for new fuel pump with towing truck to dealer.  Total rip off was $2115.00

Hey #1if you get a carfax report on vehicles they only show what is reported at the dealer and police reports if they were involved in accidents and recalls and such.

#2 almost all used vehicles are sold as is unless you have it in writing from a reputable trans. shop your just spitting in the wind or if the dealer that sold you the vehicle puts it in writing

#3 always have a mechanic look at the vehicle spend the extra dollar or two to get this done. As for the way they repaired the transmission it is the dealer who usaully says go the cheapest route possible i want to sell it not rebuild it.

The shop performing the repairs may not be to blame for a lousy job if they are in business then they want to make money not just get by and temp fix a problem

the tune up is a joke even the dealer in most cases do not change parts unless they show signs of wear or they fail there is no test that can be completely accurate in fixing exhaust problems. if your check engine light came on then it should have been checked.

the converter should not clog up unless the o2 sensor is not responding correctly this could have been the previous owner or owners fault I have seen cases where people will pull the bulb out of the dash just to sell the vehicle or get it passed thru safety or emmision testing.

This sounds like a case of a two party blame one the sales guy is trying to sell you something and the better the sales guy the more likely it is for the consumer to get burned

I hoped this helped if it sounds rude i apoligise but i have been burned a couple times myself so please to anyone who will listen {buyer beware} The lions have been released.

First of all, Carfax is not a substitute for personally seeing and driving a prospective purchase.  You also need to have it inspected by an independent mechanic.

If you don't do those things, you leave yourself wide open to paying for a lemon.

Making a long distance purchase over the Internet compounds the problem.  People who are trying to get rid of junkers often prefer this method, since the buyer won't be seeing and driving the vehicle until after he owns it.  Most used car contracts state that any problems belong to the buyer after the sale.

Did you happen to to do a Car Fax check on the truck? I am curious b/c  I am looking at a truck that they have, but has a clean Car Fax report.
