I am defending a very nice community against comments that do not even sound like they describe Oakmonte Village. My mother who, is now 90, has lived there since it was first built in 2010 and they have treated her so well since that time that, when I saw this review, quite by accident, I felt the need to comment. She has never had an unpleasant experience there and has now lived att the independent side as well as the assisted living side and has loved both. I could go point by point and rebut this ridiculous account but it would be too lengthy. However, there is no bait-and-switch, the apartments are all very nice and the entertainment has never been karaoke. The staff has always treated my mother like she is their family, with love and compassion as she has aged. There is such a great program of activities and outings, a pool, computers, weight room ~ the list of amenities is long. I was shocked when I read this person's anonymous account and I can only surmise that this may have been a case of sour grapes for whatever reason. This is probably one of the best places to retire in the area so please disregard this review. I am still unsure what facility this person was describing, as it does not come close to describing Oakmonte Village.

It is unfortunate to read the story that was originally posted. That was not the experience that my mother and I had, nor does it reflect what mom is experiencing. Mom moved into Oakmonte in May of 2012 after an extensive search and evaluation of alternative facilities in the greater Orlando area.
We found the staff at Oakmonte to be very clear and up-front regarding prices, services and expectations that we should have a a resident. They were clear about what would be done and what was expected of my mom. This is an independent facility with cleaerly defined goals and guidelines for the residents to follow. There are plenty of activities for mom to be involved in. She can opt out of, or choose to participate in, the activities that she is most interested in. She has also been encouraged to request and suggest new activities. It appears to us that the residents have a say in what happens.
The food is great. The staff are catering to a very diverse group of individuals and at some point a meal wil be served that does not interest mom. There is some flexibility and ability to order a limited number of items "off the menu" if needed. This is seldom done due to the options that are presented. Special events are numerous and appreciated by the residents.
The staff treat mom very well and she enjoys the environment. There is an interest expressed by the staff and from other residents to look after one another. Friendships have developed and a general good natured environment exists between residents and staff alike.
I have had the opportunity to eat meals there, spend nights there and enjoy the company of residents and staff. This has happened when I have been with my mom and while she has been under the care of medical professionals at local hospitals. I have no doubt that there is sincere interest in the well being of my mom by the residnts and staff and feel VERY comfortable knowing that mom is in good hands at Oakmonte of Lake Mary.

My husband and I have lived at Oakmonte for two years and have never found a facility as wonderful. The staff is so kind, anxious to help, respectfull, and make you feel important. They are our extended families. There's not enough time in the day you participate in all the activities. Between the classes, excersises, trips, entertainment,
book club, beading classes,IPad training, cards, mahjong games bridge, canasta etc. we can be on the "go" from morning tool night. Transportation to doctor appointments, shopping, has never been a problem. We have been extremely happy living here and hope to remain at Oakmonte Village for a long time. We have met and made very good friends here.

On July 9, 2013, my wife and I will have completed one full year at Oakmone Village and thus can accurate reflect on our experiences in our new setting. At Oakmonte we are enjoying retirement in a happy, content environment beyond our expectations. We live in an 1800 sq foot villa that is light and bright with beautiful cathedral ceilings, generous storage, and as over-sized garage. The exterior is professionally landscaped. We could not be more satisfied with our new home.
The total program offered by Oakmonte meets all of our needs in a caring, quality way. We especially appreciate the concern and personal care of the total Oakmonte staff. It is gratifying and appreciated when staff persons from the director on down know our names, know our problems, know our interests and interact with us personally whenever they see us.
Oakmonte does not have an institutional feel; rather an invironment of luxury, relaxation, and fun. The daily social hour brings guests and staff together for fellowship and togetherness, accentuated by different professional pianists each day. This experience precedes formal dining with dedicated `young servers. Additionally, my wife and I are really envolved in many of the opportunities available at Oakmonte, including its exercise programs, frequent live intertainment, and travel trips.
It is regrettable that Oakmonte Village is slammed and mis-represented in a Ripoff Report format by someone who frankly does not know what he is talking about. The 200 or so Oakmonte patrons (in an offering only four years old) who happily enjoy Oakmonte life is the genuine testament to the slam dunk success of Oakmonte Village.

I moved into Oakmonte Village at Lake Mary a few months after it first opened in 2009, so I have lived here almost 4 years. I can't believe the story given by the person complaining. That is not what this place is about.
The staff here are the best! They give support and help unstintingly at every turn. We have more varied activities here than we can keep up with. Outings and transportation to our doctors or other needs are outstanding.
I would reccommend moving to Oakmonte Village ad Lake Mary for anyone sho wants a graccious living among friendly people.

Are you nuts? Living here the past 2 years has been absolutely wonderful ! We could not be happier, or feel safer or have more wonderful friends than here at Oakmonte. The staff is fabulous -- friendly, accomodating, and so very helpful. And I haven't had to cook dinner all that time. Hooray ! It'slike living on a cruise ship, with no seasickness!

My mother and father are both living at oakmonte village - lake mary and they are completely thrilled with the facilities and servies provided. I had the primary responisbility to find an independent living community that best fit the needs for my parents and did an extentsive search of all options available in the orlando metro area...after a 6 month process, I can assure anyone looking for an independent or assisted living communtiy, that oakmonte village is in the top 1% of available properties in the orlando metro area!!! If you are looking for a community that is clean, well maintained, has high quality construction and amenities, all supported by a friendly, courteous staff that does its best to be responsive to its residents and their extended families, then oakmonte is the right place for your loved ones.
My mother has been a life-long "music person" and has even sung with vocal groups that have performed at Disney and throughout the orlando community...she has had nothing but praise for musical performances that have entertained at oakmonte village. In fact, she has recognized many as former performers at Disney - all truly professional and first rate for an independent living facility! My siblings and I have also been present for special entertainment activities like st. patricks day and Christmas celebrations, all of them were first rate... complete with live bands, dancing instructors and sing-a-longs. Needless to say, these were all far from "karaoke" and truly top notch entertainment for residents and guests alike.
My fater is a 20+ year retired military man (one of many in the community) and each one of them was recognized for thier service at memorial day by the oakmonte staff, which included a display of their medals, accomodations and service ribbons. I can honestly say that the satff truly goes out of its way to respect and honor the veterans in the oakmonte community...this includes everyone from the wait staff to the executive management team!
Finally, I would also like to point out that the food service and weekly cleaning staff are also well above industry standards. My parents have had many friends and relatives come and visit them at oakmonte and all have commented on the cleanliness of facilites and the quality of the meals. There are always at least 3 options for entrees - a fish option, a chicken option and a beef/pork option, with plenty of fresh vegtables and desserts. oakmonte also provides a weekly maid service for its independent residents that even includes trash removal.
In summary and on behalf of about 12 family members, I am happy to provide this endorsement for oakmonte village and find the original ripoff report to be completely without basis and unwarranted by our collective experiences!

My mother has been at oakmonte village for nearly 3 years and it has changed her life. She has gone from being inactive without many friends to being very active and a social butterfly. She refers to the staff as "family'. My mother is treated with the utmost care and great respect. I have no patience nor time for this time of stuff, but when someone says something untrue about oakmont I must say something. My fahter was in a similiar place before he passed away (oakmonte hadnt been built yet)and so I have experience with retirements homes.Oakmonte is the best one I have ever seen!!!!!! I only wish my father could have gotten the love and care that my mother is so lucky to receive.

I have no idea where this person got his information. But my parents live in oakmonte and they are extremely happy. From their first hand account I know that pretty much everything he said in the report is wrong. And not just wrong, 100 percent wrong.
First, anyone who goes to the place sees its amazing. It's new and beautiful and simply a great environment. Second, there i a schedule of activities, there are doctors who come to visit on site, there is excellent food, excellent courses for seniors, and even a driverto take people to where ever they need when they need.
When we checked their prices they were either cheaper or the same cost as the other facilities in the area, only the facilities at oakmonte are new and better suited for older people.
The bottom line is this place is amazing, I have no idea where all the bull that's in the original article comes from. I suspect it's some competitor worried about the high level at oakmonte... Either way I would definitely recommend this place and encourage people to go see for themselves.
