I was asking the OP(Pete) what his disability is. You will remember of course, I know you are a Disabled Vet, and the last time we discussed it you were getting 30% from the VA. I gave mine up in order to reenlist. I'd still like to know what the OP's disability is.

First of all, my disabilities have been previously discussed in detail in numerous other threads. You just need to learn how to read and comprehend. Second, I never made any claim that I was "not hired" due to my disability. Where did you get that idea? Again, you should learn how to read and comprehend. In applying for any job, I make full disclosure of my VA rated disability, and military history, and medical history. I made full disclosure of all health conditions and rated disability and was hired. >>>> Submitted: 12/23/2008 6:16:22 PM Modified: 12/23/2008 7:07:47 PM Robert Bowie, Maryland U.S.A. What EXACTLY is your disabilty I'm amazed nobody else asked. If you have no arms/legs, then obviously you will not be hired to load a truck, or service the vending machines. What EXACTLY is your disabilty, and what position did you apply for. I'm really not amazed by the fact neither of these two very relevant issues were adressed by the OP. >>>>

SPREAD THE WORD!! Teamster's Local 173, Bradenton, FL. representing Steve xxxx vs. Tropicana / Pepsico in ARBITRATION. I won this case with an arbitrator's decision of "MAKE WHOLE & REINSTATE"! This order specified full back pay, seniority, medical, vacation, and reinstatement to my prior position and shift. **HOWEVER....The company REFUSED to follow the order of the Arbitrator even though they signed a binding agreement to do so. The company plans to appeal to a civil court. This company feels that they are "above the law" and REFUSE to be held "accountable" by anyone! Lets change this attitude! Bill Woolston, SR VP of HR Pepsico, according to Robert Tuttle, President of Local 173 , stated that "Steve xxxx will never return to work at Tropicana no matter what"..."He is a cancer to the company"...etc..etc.. This means that the company entered into these proceedings in bad faith, as they never planned on being in compliance with the decision. At this time, I need EVERYONE to go to www.RipOffReport.com and follow this case. Once on the site, just search "Tropicana" or "PepsiCo" or "QTG" I need your input, and you do not have to give your real name. I need to promote this case to the next level and need publicity, and need to bring others forward who have been victims of a PepsiCo owned company like Tropicana, Gatorade, Frito Lay, Quaker, etc. **PLEASE take a minute and do this for me! Lets not let this arrogant company laugh at the union or the law. We need to make an example out of them. Thank you all, A Disabled Veteran ps..The USDOL issued me a "right to sue" determination for the ADA discrimination case on 10-23-2008 which I need to act on prior to 1-23-2008. AND..The EEOC is still investigating. AND..I am going to visit the State Attorney this Monday to bring criminal charges against 5 HR Representatives under Florida Statute 448.045 "Wrongful Combinations Against Workers".

That is the whole reason for my posts. I need to draw out others who have suffered this discrimination, so it can be made right. Please elaborate on the details of your case. Thanks!

I am an ex employee of PepsiCo/Frito-Lay...I too am disabled, however I found out I had a disability while I worked for frito-lay and they all changed their tune with me and within one month of me learning of my illness......I was told to resign and walk quietly or they made it clear they would continue to make my life a living nightmare at work. I was told to handwrite a resign note and dont bother coming to the yard...that my trainer would come to my home in the commercial vehicle and pick up my work clothes, alarm card, and quit note. So my point is...please be careful if you work for PepsiCo/Frito-Lay, they did make a huge deal about being non discriminating...but I lived a different story and lost my house, my income, and ended up being put in the hospital for depression over this. Please seek other employment. Please.

Pete, I agree with you. These big companies think they are untouchable, and are above the law. Check out my posts on Tropicana - Bradenton which is a PepsiCo owned company. I was retaliated against for seeking "resonable accomodation" under the ADA, and ultimately fired for holding them accountable under OSHA. The best part is, they now pay full time people to monitor this site! They read every word I write. Basically, they are PAYING to read what I write! Do yourself a favor next time you apply for a job. Do NOT elaborate on your "disability" status. Wait until after you are hired and pass your probationary period, and then "self identify" as legally disabled. Do not lie on your application, just be vague within the boundaries of truth. Play it down, even in your interview. Check out what Tropicana HR did to me [3 times]. Good luck!

The EEOC contacted me the other day.. I had emailed so many places, I forgot who I have/have not contacted.. Katerine Bissell told me "Companies are under no obligation to hire you; or to explain why they did not hire you". If they were to sign a document stating why they did not want to hire me, I would be a rich man.. Pepsi/Coke/UPS/ Fed Ex are too smart for that, they have the $$ for the legal teams to tell them whay they can/can't get away with.. All I can do is ask every one of you that reads this to REFUSE TO SUPPORT THESE COMPANIES!! Please, I beg you.. And let all of your friends know of their prejudicial conduct. Together, we can make a difference. Years ago, blacks and gays where in the same boat as those with a disability. Things are slowly changing for them. People like you and I can push issues like this into the light... We can change the stigma; yet we have to be willing to work at it. Together as a team, it can be done.. I thank you all...

Yes, there is an agency to make a complaint to. Since each of these companies employ more than 15 employees you may make a complaint to the EEOC. Their main location is in Washington D.C. They may have local numbers you may call, check the internet for them. Best of luck

Hi Pete, I understand your frustration. You want to work yet people/corporations don't want to "deal" with anyone that might require modifications... and even if they don't require any modifications the companies shy away. Absolutely incredible because like veterans, people with disabilities make very good employees. Sometimes the attitude is very subtle... like here in Neenah a major employer has the parking spaces that are furthest away from the enterance as the handicapped parking. Try getting to work in the winter when it is like that! Anyway, please check http://www.eeoc.gov/. This is the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commision. They have information and links to local offices. It is possible for the EEOC to determine discrimination that is less than blatant... they can look for patterns of hiring, percentage of disabled applicants versus actually hired. Number of disabled working within the company, etc.. This isn't easy and doesn't come easy. To accomodate the people that are gonna get upset... not every one of the companies listed might be discriminating... yes, they might have reasons why they are not hiring or don't choose a particular person. However, to those people that get upset with those that want something for nothing and want a free ride... remember, this is about people that don't want a free ride, would rather NOT have the government involved in their life... they just want to work. In the current political climate I don't know how aggressively the feds are persuing these things. They would probably tell you to go to a "faith based" organization and try to get help. Good luck and my prayers are with you.
